I was in IBEW union for only 11 years, now I started drawing the union pension in Nov and I can't complain, it want take long for me to get back every dime I paid in union dues....
Glad your happy TH... I'm happy with my pension but not talking about pensions from the company. I was referencing the policies in which a union puts everybody in.... like one size fits all. I had to watch 6000+ people at my plant all being treated the same, covering for lazy employees, covering for drugged employees, bringing back fired employees w/pay (great vacations). Any idea how hard it is to NOT follow the herd if you have a better idea? The non-union plants pay a lot more than I ever received. My union assumed everybody was equal... and that's not how the world works. I didn't "dummy" up till I had 18 yrs. in and a large family. Companies offer pensions.... unions accept them. My union dues are NOT responsible for my pension.
Limit, I'm talking about my union pension, it is seperate from my company pension, my union pension is paid by the IBEW... I get a union pension and a company paid pension for the same job ...
I agree with what your saying as far as treating everyone the same Union kept wanted to lower time period of the progression scale to reach top wage. I did not agree, someone with 5 years did not have same skill knowledge as member with 15 years..
