Great topic! Beautiful animals and beautiful country! The U.S.A. that we grew up in IS a lovely place, just a few folks are a might well, half a bubble off of level, IMHO. Have a good time at home Fullpan. I'm at home as well trying to get this shoulder calmed down, seems it does not like my place of work or else the fact that I do Work.

170_7098.webp Yes sir we do have a pretty country to live in and go out into!........................63bkpkr
Reno/Tahoe is off to the upper right of this picture.

Nice pics, I would do very well living in Nevada although I'm stuck here(California)till I can retire.

Yes, they are fun to romantize about and slightly intimidating when on foot in the middle of nowhere, but they are like giant rabbits when it comes to damage
they cause.

They chased Jackrabbits all day? JK, I'll leave the real answers to the more qualified... and no your not that old haha. That is crazy though I never knew about that Jackrabbit craziness thanks for posting.

We had a 10 year influx of calif. transplants - don't know whats happening recently. Back then the rumor was, you could sell your house
in calif, buy a bigger one here, and live for 20 years off the remaining profit.

i was sneaking in on this site and came upon this thread and had to sign on, Thanks FullPan, not sure i have anything to contribute, everything today is digital and all i had back then was a crank-up camera, have to dig into box of archives.
amazing being a little active chasing

Thanks for the good chuckle

There is a nice river valley east a carson city called Dayton. There were,80s, huge herds of wild horses who performed my lawn mower duties for free. Soooo cool to wake up in the early am and see by dawns early light the house surrounded by wild horses cutting my lawn for me. Livn' along the river was cool except when untold millions and millions of tarantulas migrated to the river every year for theit annual orgy-YUCK as even made the roads-Hiway 50-slick with their crushed bodies-John

Well maybe "Hate",is a bit strong...they are pretty cool and I have spent years around them and hours watching them........but aside from the points I touched on in my initial statement, they are destructive, dangerous, useless, and non native, just like wild hogs, nothing less only you can eat a hog.I cant tell you how many fawn deer and antelope and calf elk I have found that they have stomped to death....also people hink they are Wild horses with the blood lines back to wen the Spanish turned them loose....WRONG....the Gov. has been putting out Thourobred Studs for years and years...for what? Why is millions of $ of my tax money being spent on these worthless things?

For those of you who do not know it, Kruger is "Da Man" when it comes to our eco system and the balance of predator vs. prey etc. Many years in the business and I for one have a great deal of respect for his opinion on such matters. Big difference in reading about it and spending years in the field studying and often facing North America's apex predators.:notworthy:

Beautiful America is right!! Was the pick of the Bighorn taken around palm Springs by chance?

This was taken on the hike to the Claim in June last year. This year in June on the same hike , not a spec of snow
