Found a Standing Liberty at the site of an 1890s neighborhood in north Texas.
It wasn't what I would call a solid "silver quarter sound" on the Nox but dug it anyway.
It was sitting at an angle and it had some serious dirt crud stuck to it so I didn't recognize what it was at first. As soon as I got water on it, I see the eagle.

Awesome! First I've found in TX!!

But after spraying away the mud from the obverse, the date was not there.

Only after finishing the hunt a few hours later and getting the loupe out of my "Dig Rig," I take a closer look at the date.

It's a 1919-D !

And to to that, the reverse has a very noticeable die crack on the reverse!

This is my best coin find so far this year.
And second key or semi key date coin! Photo_1559423228049.webp

Sweet quarter! By the way, your username is a crack up. Keep after it!

Very Nice!!! Congrats!!!

Love those quarters. As a kid, I thought is was a dude playing a banjo because all the ones I saw were too worn for distinguishing the artful obverse. :laughing7:

Congrats on this find and such a key date! :skullflag: :occasion14:
