I had a nice day until the rain came. I found some cool points, half of a hoe, a nice hammer stone and some scrapers. Then, things got funky. Check out what I found. Starting normal, then the odd stuff.

What are the last 2? They do not seem to have ever been glazed. And the one with flowers on it,?? It's not broken on the bottom or top. It would have been a band, no bottom, no top. What is that? Not native, I'm sure. Maybe trade? Still what purpose would it serve?

I'm not sure how the photos show on your screen. My #7 is this one, which is stone

I use my phone app for this site. Not sure if the pics load in the same order on a PC. Thanks for the view.

I also found this broken hoe on this hunt.

the two ceramics'... are rims from pottery..
the Carolinas are one of the nations great centers of art pottery...back in the day...

They don't seem to have ever been glazed, but could have been. Is it trade pottery by any stretch of the imagination? What is an estimated age on it? Also, the biggest question I have is what would it have been? If you notice, the bottom and top are not broken.

the second piece could be trade pottery...or a shipping container..
the one with the flora is probably the twenties...perhaps earlier.

both pieces were once fired...or they would have melted down by now...
just because they aren't shiny doesn't mean that is not glaze...salt glazes were popular in the early days of pottery in the south...

Didn't think about salt glaze, like the old marbles. The field that these were found in has a small grave yard in the center of it. It caught my eye several years ago, and I just got permission to hunt it. I knew the undisturbed island in the center of the field was for a purpose. I am not sure if the burial is native or early settlers. None are marked. Every thing I have is from the surface. I'd never disturb the ones at rest. Thanks for helping me.

Could be a distroyed burial urn from a time years and years before you got there? Thoughts? Yak

Okay , here we go ...5 and 7 i have found these quite often but only at known N. A. site, 'worked rocks' but not hammers , my wife says they are just rocks but ive found a historic account 1650s that said they had an awesome sling for fighting , i feel positive that is there use ! #6 a hole in a rock , again ,I only find these at N.A. sites ,fire starters ???
