I am looking for successful XLT programs that have worked really well for those of you here on TNet that use Whites XLT's. Please include info such as environment in which it worked in, every tweak done ( modified base program? and such) and the reasons behind the tweaks. I believe that this thread would help those of us who are still fairly new to this machine.

Thanks,
Wolf

I have had good luck as a beginner just going to the Coin/Jewelry mode and changing the TONE ID "ON", the VCO "ON" I use this in Parks when I am looking for Coins and Jewelry.

Pinpointing with the VCO "ON" is a breeze and makes it VERY accurate. I can also get a very good idea of size this way and helps me to avoid digging trash.

I read your other post and I think it sounds like you are working sites that are pretty trashy.

Personally - I wouldn't try custom programs until after you get used to modifiying the statndard programs to help you refine the settings for your goals, preferences and the sites where you are hunting. I think you'll get better faster going this route as opposed to using custom programs right away as a beginner with this machine.

Thanks for those links. I already tried a couple of those progs from that page. Its helpful but i'm looking for information of the "Why" these settings were used and the conditions that they worked in. Not that i'm trying to bypass the "learn by using" thing. Its just that there are so many possibilities and programs to use on this machine that I would at least like to narrow the field down. You know what would be a great feature for our detectors? A usb link to program them using the pc.

That's why Rowan's Eng Report was so helpful to me. He gets into the "why" of things pretty thoroughly. After reading it, I immediately found that I would want to change the TONE ID and VCO from the standard program settings. So far so good. I don't think I will get into custom programming for a while.

Thanks alot. This info is gonna be a great help. Just printed and binded the Engineering Report for me to read while the fiance takes over the computer later.
