While the warning is specific based on some believable communication, that info is nothing new to anyone familiar with the area. Sasabe is basically nothing but a Mexican Cartel Meth Lab. The entire area between Sasabe and Arivaca is populated by Drug Mules, Cartel Lookouts, Coyotes, Illegals, and bandits (American) that rob and kill the drug mules and steal the dope. Near the mouth of Peck Canyon (near Tumacacori) is where Agent Brian Terry (ICE) was murdered in a shootout with cartel members by a weapon sold under the "Fast and Furious" Program. Stay armed or stay away!

Mike

Peck Canyon was where I was shot at during my attempt at climbing up to Loco Canyon with my recently acquired 4x4 years ago. The packers had large square packs over their heads and carried a small semi-auto. They hadn't seen me going up the canyon as they were to busy packing but I saw the gun they had on them. Once I spun one of my auto hubs out and had to return they were now on the same road as I and never knew I was just over the rise when they fired towards me ricocheting a bullet right next to my truck. I had my 45 auto laying on my lap as I passed them by very cautiously. When the one with the gun came running back up to my drivers side window all I had to do was point the 45 in his face and he backed off. I knew he had the gun behind his back so I didn't take my bead off him until I could get around a corner and over a small hill. Just as I did that he brought his pistol up and pointed it at my bronco but I was already out of his range and sight so it was for nothing.

I haven't been back there since. Especially since I ran into the other Mules that lived nearby and were going down there to retrieve the back pack contents on their Quads with small children on the quads with them.

No more Loco Canyon for me!

I considered myself a pretty snappy (but very infrequent) saluter back in 71-75. None of which was served in Vietnam.

Real de Tayopa Tropical Tramp, I extend one of my snappiest to you Sir, for all your service and an extraordinary life.

Hand Salute!

It looks to be about five o'clock down and under or partially in a bush from the trap in the center of the photo. What you call a trap looks like the old dry washer frame, but, I'm sure it's the trap playing tricks on the eyes.

What happened to Hal?
Hibernating in the summer?

No live people on the trails!

What happened to Hal?

Hello Bill,

I was also wondering about Hal, so PM'd him a couple of weeks ago.
I know that TN's rules don't allow us to divulge personal information about other members, but I think I should say that Hal had a death in his family. His younger brother passed away.
I'm sure he would like to hear from others who care to contact him.

Take care,
EarnieP

Yes Blackline, it is a cave, that is on what appears to be a vein of white quartz. but also on a fault line. it appears to be following the vein down to the right,, there appears to be the start of another one -- but acces???

Sticking out tongue at Mike. ( course he knows his geology of the super's far better than I do

i also thought it could be a cave cause the wind would blowing it from the right so that the opening would be phased out to the left. on the small
panoramic view you can see the hole and left side several more caves. the both on the left side are on the pic with the higher resolution. you ask for the acces? i think it is right side behind the cactus. on GE its better to see. i'm wondered that there were so many caves in a row. is it typical?

who knows that hole in weavers needle? i spent two days on my trip to search for the indian underground cave with the permanent water. i wanted to get to this lovning pair of indian heads. with that beautiful heart among them. but i failed. the terrain was too rough for me. everybody always say miners n. had an eye and weavers n. not. an old sqauw ask once on mr. kollenborns facebook site "what happens to the hole in the needle". a friend that id asked said, that celeste jones blasted it into the rock!?

Only Mirages this time of year. I mean, if you see someone in this heat and it isn't me, it must be the heat off the rocks playing tricks. Ghosts of those that perished in there from the heat.

That tells me we should at the least put small fliers along the trails and let people know which cactus's you can suck the water out of to keep you alive. That harps back to what I said before about cactus squeeze juices. I bet in the summer you could hike in there and sell ice cactus fruit drinks for about 5k. Or super soakers for water fights. People dying of thirst would pay enormous amounts for living the rest of there lives by getting out of there alive. I think they should have those cowboy water pipes running right along the main trails. With an occasional snow cone machine.

Thanks's Earnie.

My condolences to you and your family Hal.

I lost two younger Brothers and an older sister so I know what that feels like and it's something you never get over. Time makes it a little easier to deal with. My youngest Brother was only 40 when he passed. Both of by Brothers were Murdered in separate instances in separate states. And both Brothers I had not talked with for six months prior to their passing which makes it even harder.

You take all the time you need old friend dealing with what you're going through is no picnic.

Again, my deepest heart felt Condolences to you and your family Hal.

Our prayers are for you.

Or how about get a franchise, The lost Dutchman Golden Arches located on the Dutchman's Trail?

That's possible now with drones.

We could serve:

"The Dutchman's Last Meal" (Only emergency calls please you have to be on your death bed to be served)

Or: "Flying Dutchman Margarita's" (They lead you to the mine but you'll be to drunk to see it)

Friday Night Special:

"Adolf Ruth Whiskey Shot's to the Head" (Warning, You may fall down with this drink so be careful and watch out for gun toting cowboys!)

Saturday:

"Julia Thomas Fruit Cake Wagonnette's" (It comes served with a Religious Experience!)

Sunday:

"Barry Storm's Thunder God's Chocolate Cake" (You'll see dead people!)

Swish that all down with a Stein of Rhineycan!

It could go on and on but you get the mine drift.:laughing7:

Let me say this about that. LOL If you do use a barrel cactus to get a drink, make sure you are back in town with in 12 hours. You will have a badddd case of the runs and loose all the water you had from the cactus and more. Learned that one the hard way, and they never ever tell that in the movies. Also if your not really, really thirsty, it tastes horrible.

I know Cholla can be eaten and it has plenty of moisture but first you burn the needles off with a fire. Then you just cut it open and eat it sucking the juices out and no runs or throwing up. I think Prickly Pair can be to if you slice it. It seems crazy to start a fire to save you from heat stroke but it can.

I think the drones would need to drop dry ice for cooling the body down quickly and saline for a drip. Or a quickie last will for those that want that last minute dig.

I've always wanted to be a Drone Rescue Pilot sitting in an RV with the AC on sipping a cool beverage. Dropping Hope all over the place and losing drones to the wind. AH, What a life!!

Might as well deliver food in there and cigarettes for those that make it choking. Maybe a large suit using a compressed air vortex tube for cooling the body or just plain old ice and a coffin sized cooler. I think they should have walk in freezers along the trail for people to jump in. Store some cold beer and ice cream in there. Nice place to save yourself. Unless it's to late.

Can't fool me, you just want all those drones so you can go looking for the LDM without sweating on the trail and hillside. ;)
And I don't blame you. If I could afford enough of them to loose 10-15 I would use it in a canyon where the air currents were really weird. Had a friend try an Ultra Light there and every time he tried to look at the ground the wind would toss him sideways or up or down. He came back and wouldn't fly in there again. And that was in the early morning before the rocks got all toasty.
