#1 - Im a die hard water hunter - usually waist deep at farther
(I will play in wet sand at shallow spots that go out far at low tide)
#2 - all the above - a man for all seasons
#3 - mostly a wet suit guy - I have different combinations for different seasons
#4 - 95% of the time you will see me with a mask&snorkel (where allowed)
#5 - I will follow the tides usually - but prefer to get in at sunrise before the crowds arrive
#6 - all kinds of weather - been out in blizzards and hurricanes too
#7 - store bought scoop
#8 - I own 5 water machines - primarily I only use one model
#9 - primarily a weekend warrior - work nights - so I can go out almost any day - but just got to make time for sleep
#10 - love the hobby
#11 - I save some / sell some ( wish I did not have to sell any ) return some and give some away (friends & relatives)
#12 - been in hobby since 1975 at age 12 - had a few yrs - newlywed and when son was born where I did not get out as much (I was mainly a land hunter back then )
#13 - there are times when you just want to be alone - especially at small beaches BUT I have been having a good time and very good luck hunting with a partner this year - I also enjoy hooking up with other hunters for a hunt now and then

#1 - I am a die hard water hunter - up to chin depth averaging 400 hours in the water each year.
I will detect just about anywhere to find and return a lost object
#2 - all the above - averaging 180 days a year
#3 - all the above, except for the shorts. I have been know to use an Ice Water Rescue Suite on a bad winter's day
#4 - I have not tried the mask and snorkel with any success, though I know of others the swear by them.
#5 - I follow the tides +/- 2 hours - but will go anytime, with permission, to find and return an object.
#6 - all weather, year round, I prefer temps above 32 degrees and below 90

#8 - I own 5 water machines - Garrett, Whites, and Minelab

#10 - I love the hobby and helping people - I returned over 20 rings last year!
#11 - I return what I can, my wife has the choice of what is not returned and I have sold some scrap pieces, one of a pair of earrings, etc. that do not have a higher value than scrap.
#12 - I bought my first land detector in 1982, water in 1984, gave up on land in 1992 to get away from tics, snakes and poison ivy. I have been hit by a sting ray that tore a hole in my boot and left a painful laceration in my foot.
#13 - Alone to groups...each has its benefits. Water detecting is a "loner" hobby while detecting but it sure is nice to have someone to talk to while traveling the 18,000 mile I put on my car each year in the quest for the next fabulous find.

#1-All of the above...depending on season...I get in the water in April have hunted in Dec in the water. I only hunt semi dry after big Noreasters when there are cuts up high. #2-ALL OF THE ABOVE!! #3-Shorts until temps drop below *50. #4-Just started using mask and snorkle,fanned out my first gold this week!! #5- I hunt when ever I can or tides are right,but avoid crowds..most hunts early am or eve. #6-I hunt rain-sleet-snow-Nor'Easter-Hurricane...ya I'm crazy!! #7-I use a 6yr old beat to hell Babbs pro scoop. #8-Use one noe Whites Dual Field..have tried many!! #9-work full time but hunt every chance I get,in summer 5x a week most weeks. #10-love the hobby ,but have a addiction like lust for silver and gold!! #11- save some,sell some,return if I can, give stuff away to family & friends. #12-About 26/27 got my first detector when I was ten hunted on and off,sold it to buy a car...got back into it in 1996, been my only hobby/addiction since 99.9% beach hunter..once in a blue moon will dig dirt. #13-I hunt alone alot but enjoy hunting with one other hunter and forum member when we can get together.

1. I'll detect anywhere on a beach. Mainly water though. I like to look at old photos and I pick hunt spots accordingly. Progress does not swallow everything!
2. Weather is sub-tropical here so I hunt all year.
3. shorts / wetsuit vest, steamer in winter.
4, Yes I've snorkelled / fanned for treasure on a bedrock base I have found near my "old staircase site". It was so fun - I found a sterling ring fanning and I was as amped as scooping gold. Also snorkel for bottles in same area.
5. all times - but I'm rightly wary of the local drunken teenage boogie men packs who can make night hunting dangerous in some more populated places near my home - alone they are beavers but together well ... best left alone.
6. Rain is best time to chase tourists away - especially in Summer.
7.Stavr scoop from Ukraine - love it.
8, I'm a rookie so I use a Sand Shark for 99% of my hunts, I'm currently considering a machine that can discriminate iron as I have many infested sites that I know will yield yellow.
9. Other, married, free to do what I want - y'all would love my wife too.
10. Both - Md'ing makes me happy - gold more so.
11. Keep all gold ( 17 pieces so far), give away some silver stuff to make people happy.
12. In 2 weeks I will have been detecting 1 year.
13. I hunt alone, hardly anyone detects here, when we Md's do see each other it is always great to chat / swap ideas yarns - though I have met city prats up North who think a certain swimming spot is theirs or whatever - I ignore this!
