TD Not offering half dollars????

My girl has a friend that is a manager at a TD branch and she asked him to get her a box of halves.

He called today to place his order for coins and they told him they don't carry halves any more and will not be offering them any more at all.

Is anyone else not able to get halves at their TD?

I assume it's just his branch because he said that a lot of people were buying halves and dumping them in their coin counter.

She asked if it was just his branch and he said that he can't order from from any other branches in the area either so he believes that it's going to be TD polict to not offer halves any more...

Yes. I've been looking for a new pick up bank because I'm not liking all the skunks from the one that I've been using now.

The hunt continues... I think I have a citizens that will order for me. I have to talk to the vault manager Monday.

Yep , here in westchester NY TD will not order coins unless you have a business account. Seems some collectors would order many boxes of coins , go thru them in the parking lot then return them tying up the machine and a teller for a long time while filling up numerous bags. Many times they would also jam the machine and or run out of bags puting the machine out of service for the rest of the day.

The funny part is that these same people will debate right and wrong here on this forum blaming TD as the reason we cant order boxes any more.

Didn't Rich Hartford run into that years ago? He was doing really well until one day his order bank branches couldn't order for him anymore. I don't know if that was TD Bank or not. Perhaps you guys out there know better. There are other banks. Perhaps TD becomes a dump bank only. Guess, everyone try not to get on the bank's nerves and dump cautiously and not over do it.

Shortly after opening an account with them I asked about ordering through them. Wanted to get more than one supplier. Might change my luck. Spoke with the teller, she said she would order them for me. Went back the following week to pick them up. No halves. Same teller began asking all these questions. Said she had to go though the "board" for an answer. Told not to bother, "I would be dead before they gave her an answer." Still have my other banks.

I don't order coin from TD Bank, just use them as a dump and split it up between two branches.

What Buffaloboy said, it's not that they won't order. They can't order, their system won't allow them to. That was explained to me a couple years ago when my branch stopped ordering cold turkey. They tried to put the order through but the system wouldn't allow them to.

I've been dealing with TD for almost 3 years and could buy cents, nickels. dimes and quarters but never halves. Last year the vault teller said she could now get me halves, so i ordered 2 boxes. Guess what? On delivery day, no halves. She was told that the wrapping machine broke again. Since Brinks is their supplier, I doubt that this was really the case. At least she tried to accommodate me.

According to my source inside TD bank, they order their coin directly from the Garda website (TD's around here use Garda). The option to order half dollar boxes is "grayed out". So even if they wanted to order halves they can't. TD policy I believe. There's that "P" word again. TD is not the only bank in the world so you just have to move on. I hear that they have some nice coin counters........
