Texan Roll Call!

North Austin area. I just picked up a Minelab Explorer SE. Unfortunately I haven't had any time to hunt with it yet.

I'm in the northwest Houston area, near Cypress/Tomball/Spring. No equipment here yet.

Hi Sharpshooter,

Good to meet you.

There are some really good spots on Lake Worth. Got to get away from Casino Beach though. That is where everyone goes. I have a 1939 map of lake worth that shows the old CCC camps, youth camps, fish camps, lodges, resorts, stores, etc. Almost all original buildings are gone now and the places have faded into history. I find a lot of cool stuff out there. Not to mention, recently started a collection on history of Fort Worth and found some really cool spots.

Send me a message and we can meet up.

Patrick

Though I'm living in Idaho, I'm still a TEXAN!! Hillsboro/Waco area from 1942 until 2007. I started detecting in Waco in 1980. I haven't used the detector much since 1982; but plan to use it heavily when the weather gets better. We had -8 degrees a couple of mornings ago and +11 this morning. Got about an inch and a half of snow left from last week. It's supposed to get all the way up to 31 degrees today. I didn't mind the cold so much a few years ago; but as I've gotten older, I can't stand it as much. I worked out in the cold around central Texas for many years. The cold up here isn't as bad as in Texas because of the low humidity; but still COLD.

Bee County

I've held two solid pieces of gold that came out of Bee County. They were almost like a pair of gold dice. Drilling rig must have gone through quite a vein, the gold was wedged into the grooves of the drill pipe. At least one other rig has gone through gold, this was near Los Angeles in La Salle County. They said the driller picked a bunch of gold out of the drill bit, and was going to have some jewelry made for his wife. Makes me wonder how many times this has happened.

NE Texas .... Hunt County here

If so that would be the only time I've ever heard of gold in the area. I wander how deep it was.

That was close to Pawnee, for some reason they were going to check the drill bit after going 3000' the gold was wedged in two separate joints. Since the floor hand that pried the gold out didn't think about counting the joints, all I know is that it was between the surface, and 3000'. :dontknow:

Haha remember to look out for "Goatman" out there by Casino Beach.

Oh Yeah, the Goatman of Greer Island in the Mud Flats area. That takes me back to being a 12 year old boy scout and going there on my first campout. Every sound was the goatman outside my pup tent. That dang tent was so old it didn't even have a floor. I was a mosquito's best friend.

Medina, Uvalde counties. Love relic hunting.

Collin County (Wylie, Plano, Allen area mostly)... Started metal detecting a little over a year ago now and have really enjoyed it...

Tomball Grew up in Angelina county near Big Sam. Thats where I do my relic hunting.
