THE CHISHOLM TRAIL HUNT

Hope some more get their name on the list in the next 20 days.Burdie says that there is 40 acres to cover and without a mule, that's a heap to cover.Of course, looking over the present list, there may be a couple I could substitute for a Jenny.I'll have to wait til I see 'em lined up.May just have to use a A$$.

The Chisholm Trail Hunt directions:

Here are the directions to the fair building. When coming from the east on highway 81. Cross the RR tracks and go one block then turn left. Go one and a half blocks south look left you are there. A metal building that will have a sign CTH.

If you are coming from the north on highway 49 and reach the 4-way stop go one more block south. Then turn east for one block. Turn right a half block look left you are there.

Directions for the hunt site will be later.

Is anybody bringing their children? I need to have some ammo when I ask my ex if I can take him out of the state for a hunt. Also I would probably pull him out of a half day of school....Steve

I am bringing my girls . I already talked to their schools and told them that this is a history trip.

Thank's Gypsy. I need some of your creative talent...Steve

Thats a good idea Gypsy, a history field trip. My son says he wants to come. I think he just wants a day out of school. I warned him that he might get bored hanging around a bunch of old guys...he said he was used to it....ouch!

He is young(17) and strong and good for diggin holes and carrying equipment ;)

The trouble is that the harder he works, the more he eats!

Hey burdie, how big an area do we have to hunt? Maybe you said and I just missed it? If we find something large such as a wagon wheel, will we be allowed to dig an excavation large enough to remove it? As long as we fill the hole in? Should some of us bring a spade just in case? Monty

Monty, I was wondering the same thing. Being that this is my first hunt, I didn't want to ask a newbie question.

However, I think if we are digging and the item begins to resemble a coffin.....it probably would be best to cover it up...... ;D ;DLOL Either that or yell "GOLD" and move on to the next piece of ground when everybody else rushes over to dig. :D :D :D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Each person has an assigned spot 22 inches wide and 6 feet long. Stoney and I get the other 2 acres. ;D ;D Just kidding!!!! The site is two city blocks in size. You should have plenty of room. Your two blocks from the hospital in case you stab your self digging up that gold token. ::) ::) ::)
Burdie

22 inches by 6 feet? Hmmmm, gues I better bring my 1X2" deep seeking, high falootin, quadruple DDDD coil.

I am bringing a shovel and wheel barrel to dig up and carry back that lost stage coach gold, er, I mean, um, forget I said anything. Shhhhhhh.

Burdie

Heck, If I find a gold token...forget the hospital...call the coroner.

Ok I have a few questions. Being a newbee and seeing how this is my first hunting event, anyone got any pointers??

I know this is supposed to be "competitive" but any of you have experience you would like to share?

What things should I come prepared for? What contingences should I be prepared to handle? What type of shopping facilities are in the local area? If I forget to bring something can I purchase it nearby? What will the weather be like? How should a person dress for this event, thinking about that stars and stripes bikini here. ;D

What is the atmosphere like? I have run into detectorists that are funnloving people and I have met a few I wouldn't mind never seeing again. All in all I guess I am a little nervous. I don't want to show up and make mistakes and have people saying things like "man what a jerk" or laughing at me behind my back. Baldingboy only tells me I am a jerk every three or four times we go out hunting. ;D

I am super excited about this event and I cannot wait until October. Just requested the 5th off from work so I can get there early on Friday and meet all of you. I think it will be really cool to put faces with names and avatars.

Well anyway have a great day.

Don't worry about people laughing at you, they will be to busy laughing at me.

I have been on club hunts but never on one like this. I am really excited about the opportunity to hunt a site like this and meet everyone. While nobody gets along great with everybody when there is a large group, this bunch sounds like a relaxed fun bunch of people and I am looking forward to finds and fun. :D
