The more I hunt the better I due each hunt

This is my first summer of Mding,coinhunting.I notice the more often I hunt the more confidence I have.I seem to be able to tell what the detector is telling me better.I seem to find more old coins per trip.I'm beginning to believe it's not so much what detector you swing but where you swing it,research,research,research.The anticipation of the next hunt is greater each time.I 'm getting so I can tell what coin I'm going to dig by the signal and how it pinpoints.I'm about 90% right most of the time.This is a great hobby.It is hard work but at the end of the hunt it was always worthwhile,no matter what I find.Bill

yes the detector does matter --but so does the detectorist -- a good detectorist with bounty hunter quick draw 2 ( like the one I use) can run circles around a person with a big name " better machine" that doesn't know how to use it properly (I've done it many times) -- then I take mercy on them and show those "new" folks with big dollar machines how to really "use" their machines with a half hour to hour of "hands on & ear training" its amazing the improvement they show --simple things like what the "notch" means & how to disc out iron and other "simple" things -- it shocks me the large numbers of folks who will spend $600 to $1000 + bucks for a "top of the line machine" who then will not take a few hours to learn how to really get the most from it and fail to read the instructions or watch their "learner" videos that come with em--- Ivan

Well said Ivan. I could add that you should read all you can about the hobby from the many books and treasure magazines. This can keep you honed for when you can't get out to enjoy the sweeping and retrieving. ( I don't like to use the word dig.)

Or the ones who write a horrible review on a detector without reading manual....and run out and use without a clue...and write a bad review just as quick!
