After a few days of rain, the ground is finally softer than concrete. I went to areas of the park that MDs probably wouldn't frequent as much and it paid off. The 1942D quarter was 9" down, thought it was going to be a big piece of copper pipe again. I also found a 1959 dime,(in good shape), and a 1963D dime. Also two new pennies came out of the same area and were worn funny, "strange". Thanks for looking!

It is just a religious medallion made out of a cheap white metal. It says " thou shall not covet thy neighbor's goods". on the other side. Thanks for looking.

Your photos appear to show a 1942 D quarter that is a Doubled Die Obverse (face is doubled). PLEASE, clean this only with Q-tips dipped in acetone. Acetone removes only the organic material from a coin. If it is a 1942 D DDO, it's worth much more than a 1942 D. Try getting a photo of a 1942 D DDO online or at PCGS.com to be certain.

Re: The old park came through again! Updated pics! is the quarter a double die?

You are taking some KILLER photos here! The doubling to my eye appears strongest in the 42 of the date, with the first strike being above and slightly left of the current strike. There is also minor doubling in the motto, LIBERTY, and Washington's bust. (Who woulda known Washingon had a bust?) Another point of doubling I saw in the original photos not blown up in the recent photos, was the L in LIBERTY. DDO Washington's typically have an area of doubling seen inside the loops of the B as well, and sometimes in the T and Y.

WAY TO GO! Turns a pretty common coin into a fairly WONDERFUL coin. Would need to be graded by PCGS or other authentication service before a coin collector will take your (or my) word for it, though. Latest coin submitted to PCGS cost me $35. Later sold that coin for $705 on Ebay, so the cost is certainly worth the return.
