1 Asbestos - the wonder of science was supposed to change the world. Now it's called a biohazard.

2 Lead - it was and still is in a lot of products. It has been known to be toxic for decades and they still put in products used by children - the most vulnerable.

3 Plutonium - one of the deadliest radio active isotopes ever manufactured. A single ounce is enough to give every single person alive and who has ever lived through out history a deadly cancer. It is estimated it can do this damage with as little as about ten to twenty atoms lodged in the lungs. The US of A has tons of this stuff. Thank you genius scientists to giving us this lethal legacy.

Hmmm, if you want to look at it from that point of view -

Asbestos - still have it in our brakes, but heaven forbid if you have it in your home and don't spend 20 grand getting it taken out. (our grade school was entirely insulated with asbestos).

Lead - as the grownups of this world that are older - everything had lead in it - even when we were kids - lead army soldiers, lead paint (the key there is not to have your kids eating your walls or their beds), but now - most leaded stuff comes from other countries - like China. We will
continue to use it - like in batteries and items that have to have longer lives (like certain types of paint, still).

Plutonium - this is nonsense - don't you know that "they" have the entire state of Nevada to store any kind of bio-hazard materials?? (cough, cough). But, here, right where I live, they continue to mine uranium - and are increasing the output, AND, on top of everything else, have managed to convince the scientists (or some, anyway) that their "new" way of mining it is safe - ha! Our water has tested radioactive for 3 years. (out of legal amounts).
Wonder how THAT happened?

But, in that vein, I'd have to add - Mercury.

When I was a kid, we ALL got to play with it and chase it around in school. Now - they evacuate a building if one drop is maybe spilled.

And yet - the fillings in your teeth still have mercury in them. (sigh).

In FL you can still find:
"a Florida snowman"- a snowglobe with water, a plastic top hat, 2 plastic tiny round things (coal) and a plastic carrot floating around in the water.

Cannes FL sunshine- an empty pop top can (like a tuna can) with a wrapper that says FL sunshine.

A piece of FL- a little plastic bag or bottle sand from a beach and a few shells.

I have the canned sunshine and the piece of Fl., except it's in a little glass vial. I love finding novelty junk at yard sales. My latest is a "Crapall's can of Whip ass".

A couple other great marketing ideas were- Beanie Babies, statehood quarters and a piece of the Berlin Wall.

I've seen the "Whoop-Ass" stuff, but never the Florida snowman -

We have a can of road-kill possum and a jar of "Red-Ass Cream". Can't remember which state we picked those up in.

They've made some neat novelty stuff over the years!
