Hey, dudes and dudettes on this Tnet site, I hope all is well in your metal datectin' lives. At 3:00 p.m. Eastern time, Zoy and I were in the swimming pool chatting about this great hobby...the usual conversation: our new ra-search projects, our Colonial coppa aspirations, fine-tune techniques for our White's machines, how our coil cords are wrapped perfectly around our upper and lower rods, how we are kicking some serious "you know what" in Central PA, how Grubby is a detecting god, Tnet forum issues, etc.

Well, after our 15 minute swim...let me just state: Yes, we held a competition on who could hold their breath the longest...I won with a total time of a 2 minutes. While we were drying off, the conversation continued with the usual metal detecting topics, with a stray conversation about the possible E.T. base on the "dark side" of the moon. Then, for some reason, I blurted out, "Dude, I am going detecting!" Zoy looked at me and stated, "Where at, KirkPA?" My response, "Hmmm...since I don't go to any of our ra-search sites without the team and the only area I can think of that could produce is the old park in town." That was when Zoy laughed at me and stated, "I graduated from the park!" Well, after those words, I got in his face, "I am better than you at this detecting stuff, so you just wait right here and I will go find something to rub in your face."

Ten minutes later, I had my detecting gear on and slammed the house door on my way out. KirkPA was determined to show his brotha how his skills will shine. I sped my way to the park...let me just state, it dates back to the 1860s. It used to be an old fairground, but has been hit suuuuuper hard since 1968. So, to find the good stuff, one needs some serious skills...detecting skills!

I got my datecta out of the trunk and ground balanced it...while I was performing this duty, a few hot chicks jogged by and smiled at me. I smiled back and stated, "Good afternoon, ladies." Hmmmm....maybe they were smiling at my massive arms, since I did have a muscle shirt on and kind of flexed my arms to display for them. I had to show the fine ladies my sexy, bulging biceps...they sure did love them. So, after they jogged by, and I got my groove on, I decided to walk around the park trying to find a "hot spot." The usual KirkPA cool strut went on for about an hour more...there were too many cute ones walking by for me to NOT act important and sexy at the same time.

After the hour passed by, I soon got a siggy that pinpointed at 3.5". This turned out to be a shank button. After recovering it, I thought, "Nice! See everyone...I have the skills to find what the other dudes missed!" Since I am a pro, I decided to grid the area with my White's machine. While gridding, a few cars drove by and honked at me....I just can't help myself at times...hahaha.

My next decent signal came after I dug the usual garrrrrbage in the 1st hour. It was reading at ____ and pinpointed at 6". I jabbed at the ground, threw some dirt out of the hole, and that was when I plucked the coin from its grave. I rubbed at it and that was when I saw the bust of "Lady Liberty." It turned out to be a three-cent nickel piece. After identifying the coin, I stood up and performed a double fist pump in metal detecting celebration. That was when I noticed a dude standing next to me...he stated, "Find anything good? I have a machine kind of like that." I stated, "Nope, nothing here." So, after about a minute chat, he kind of got the hint that I was busy and didn't want to bothered. After he was out of sight, I picked my datecta up and walked around the area...I was bouncing my legs up and down a little bit to showcase my current state of happiness.

The day ended after that and I came home to rub this coin in Zoy's face. I entered the door and since he was standing right there, I tossed the coin at him, "Check it, sucka!" He couldn't believe what I had found in this hunted park. He stated, "That just proves your skills! You beat the dudes in the past!"

Oh, to let you dudesters know, I found an 1875-S Seated dime and three IHs here last year. It is a great site to screw around at when I have the time! hahaha As Grubby would state, "White's strikes again!"

*Coin was found in a park that I won't disclose here on the forum. I, KirkPA, want ALL the coins for myself. :D

Kirk. Where did that hit on the xl pro meter? I haven't found one of those yet. I assume it read around nickel?

Bud, it read at the "O" on "Foil". It gave off a strong signal at 6 inches, which means that I could have gotten it at 7 or 8 easily. If it were a wilver dime, I would have gotten it at 8-10 inches.

A 3-cent nickel. . . that is one oxymoron I'd like to find.
Cool stuff 8)

great story and great coin congrats KirkPa ;)

Thanks, dudes and lovely lady (Carolinadigs) :-* :D, for the replies. They mean the world to me. :P :D

They were laughing because you had a detector in your hands mate. They just don't understand. They see the detector and think "What a dork". Of course you won't tell anyone where your spot is. If you are a treasure hunter and worth your salt (as I have found you to be) you will at least lie and tell us the exact location (ie somewhere else) and then continue to make finds there and post em. Nice find mano. Can it be cleaned more or is that corrosion?

:D Hey Dude, did you take that big blue Bus thingy or did Zoyboy let you use the wheels this time? Hey, its a 3/5 well worth keeping. Enjoyed the story, as always I might add. I'll just never get over the Mighty KirkPA hunting the parks no matter how old they are! Just goes to show how BAD you got it my friend! HH and keep us laffin!

Noooo, no bus today. hahaha KirkPA only hits this one old park when he wants to screw around. I don't do the research sites without the group...that would be disrespectful.

I have the FEVER! :D

Yeah... I can see it....I'm sure I can! :D Very cool find, K! 8)

Congrats!

Hey, Kirk, my fav Master White's detecting God, way to go on your 3-center. Yes, I see lady liberty facing left. Pulling nickel sounds out of trashy parks is no easy task. You did well, my friend. ;) I'm sure there's a seated with your name on it just waiting for you at that park. If I found a 3-center over here, I would have done a double fist pump and a happy dance at the same time.

Can't wait to see what old coin you pull out of the ground next.

Thanks, buddy, for the reply. This park is loaded with trash...I dug about a pound of pulltabs and soda cans. hahaha I already found Seated here, so there should be a lot more. :D

I also dug a lot of deep holes that turned out to be "ghost" signals. The one read "Quarter" and pinpointed at 7"...I was thinking, "Barber or Seated!" I dug down to about 10" and lost the signal...I later gave up....there are a lot of false signals at this area of the park.

Go find some more old wilver, bud!
