I am assuming this is not a finished point? So close, but still no finished point. a kind of disapointing day, but found this right next to where I found the origional two stones that started this whole thing. Only was able to find a small piece of pottery, and not able to locate the big pieces i tossed aside a couple of days ago. The piece on the left , I thought was pottery until I stuck a magnet to it. It is slightly magnetic, so must be very old iron. any way, the search continues...

Man! That's some nice material.
Can we see the other side please.
It looks like it's at least a blade.. Or a pre form... need to see if its flaked on both sides.
I'm trying to figure out If the rough sections Are part of the rind of the original stone... Seems strange it would be on both sides so close together.
Almost seems like it may be crust Formed on it right at the base.

Not all points were made pretty. Id call it a point or a knife.

Cool find. I might be wrong but, I think them Florida boys call that material root beer flint?

Nice piece! That is a tool, a finished tool. Turtle back scrapers are what we call those. Here is one for your comparison.

Hot on the trail. You are getting very close to the motherlode. Nice worked piece BlueRacer.

Here is the other side. The two on the left are the origional blanks found next to this one. The side profile pic is showing what I think is a mess up and why he may have thrown it away.I think it is the natural limestone that he was chipping off of it.florida rocks 122.webpflorida rocks 117.webp

Yeah it looks like The maker ran into some trouble And couldn't finish the base.. That's my guess anyway... I don't know how we could have called it anything specific before seeing both sides.
It looks like it's possibly a Wacissa That's almost finished.
I don't think I commented on those other two pieces.. In that photo The one on the left Looks like a stem point preform that broke while it was being worked to me the other looks alot like some hafted scrapers I've found up by you.
Here is a Wacissa
9,000-6,000 BP.

Kinda looks like it might be coral also.. it's hard to tell in these photos.
I've seen that bluish white patina thats on the other pieces on coral before.

so where does the source rock come from? Also, they traded for it? because I have never seen any rock outcroppings in central florida.

There is large formations of chert in north central and north Florida ..most of the coral is on the gulf side.
Material: moved all over your area.. the water was like highways up there.
