The only time success comes before work is in the dictionary.

unless you hit the lottery !

Geuss I'll keep working torwards that succuss, cause I ain't countin' on a lottery ticket !
All the lotteries are simply a voluntary tax on those in America too unschooled to do basic math .
If all the folks dedicated to buying lottery tickets saved the same ammount they spend on the tickets each week and used it gainfully at the end of the year all of America would be a better place .
The really caring individual that wins that great number would share the winnings with everyone who bought a ticket that day to show what a great world it is instead of jumping around going ...

Re: Today's thought

Mental Granny reminded me of something in history.
Do I remember correctly that the "Numbers Racket" was going on in New York in the early 1900s?
Folks were put in prison for this.
Now everyone wants it.

Re: Today's thought

The last time I bought a lotto ticket was about 11 or 12 years ago ! I just never was into giving away what little bit of $ I had. But that time it was up 200 million (I think) so I spent 1$ and that was all I spent.

Re: Today's thought

You and I will never win that way !

I need to get a job.

Re: Today's thought

Success is often the result of taking a misstep in the right direction.

Re: Today's thought

Mental Granny. I felt just like you at one time. How to fit in a job with bringing up 3 children. I couldn't continue with the job I was trained for because of the hours and fitting it in with kids routines. I found the solution in the Schools, I went to work in the school it self as a supervisor at their dinner time. We had the hollidays off, so I was able to look after my children. This worked out very well, ok it wasn't the best of salary, but it helped. As we don't have bussing of kiddies to school here in the UK ,we have what are called "lollipop" ladies. They see the children safely across any main Roads. The reason they are called lollipop ladies is that they have a large and brightly written sign telling motorists what they are doing, and this is in the shape of a lollipop

Re: Today's thought

Hi Unicorn here our lollipop ladies and men are called crossing guards mainly elderly on Social Security and disabled that do it.
I have applied to work in the lunch room but the lady in charge is friends with a former boss that has a personal conflict with me, so that is out ,for now.
But I do love subbing, like you said your off when the kids are! I love being (sometimes lucky enough) to be at one of the schools the grandkids are at. And I go pick them up and take them home those times. I am trying to find out about Title One, they go take small groups of kids out of the room into an area and work with them on whatever they need help with in a small sitting of no more than about 6 kids at most. And it would be a regular job and I'd be off to go spend time with family. Plus have a paycheck like you said not a big one but, still a check.
