Gemstones have a high specific gravity and sink as far to the bottom as possible. If they're heavy, get them! My partner stumbled across thousands of cts. of rubies and sapphires....looking for gold.

Guess what my partners are doing....picking gemstones out of crevices.

Yup, they are ultra heavy, I find some big ones too, about the size of a football.
