Took a Beating Today. Updated..

I think this is the first post I have ever done were none of the finds are mine but I just had to show you what my detecting buddie Michael found today

A Medieval Silver Cross this is a quite a Rare find, you don't often see personnel Ancient Jewelry, and Religious at that ...I would date this at between 1300-1500.

The loss would have been quite considerable for the owner, there's a decent amount of Silver gone into this piece, he also managed 2 hammered and a nice Silver cuff....a right good beating for me

Lovely cross! The silver cuff link almost identical to my find last year, recorded with PAS.

CAM-C170D7 CUFF LINK (Certain) 1750-1799.

One half of a pair of octagonal silver cufflink plaque engraved with a central rosette or flower. The turned down bevelled rim forms a hollow or concave underside has a scalloped boarder which surrounds the central motif. Later 18th century. See Treasure Annual Report 2205/6 (p.170, 381, item 873) for an almost identical example. For other examples see IOW-222B37, -E87DD3, -FE1B71, LON-C15FE1 and SUSS-006577. Weight 0.88g, diameter 12.35mm.

That is a banner cross ,just AmAzing !!! Cufflink and coins are great as usual ..Very inspiring to get out there and find something . I saw the owner of the bird ring a few days ago , he hangs around the I HOP .. sorry dum joke

Did a little research this morning on the Cross, my first thought of Medieval was right, I did a bit more searching and found a match.

The letters are A.G.L.A, a Quabbalistic term, and talasmatic Symbol, meaning Thou Art Mighty Forever O Lord,. Said to invoke good luck and bring Great Wealth.

Makes sense it being an 'L' now, as the 'e' was on edge. Good ID

I see two 'alpha's but no omega e & G on edge

Looks like it had something soldered on the back

Could it be a "123"?

I to noticed that something might have been attached, then I looked in Bennets and found this, which is similar, with the same letters...but Saxon
