not sure it helps at this point but when I'm engrossed in it again I'll think on that. I forgot to mention the snail isn't really using sign language although I've seen some in the book for instance one of the fairies hands...I think it was the girl in the "D" her hand forms an "A". But of course if you flip the pages the snail moves like a cartoon...but he's pointing at something, the box?
Also thought he might be using braile on the mushrooms on page 100 but I don't know any braile.
I'm almost positive I know the location of one of the pieces but since I'm in Michigan and the place I think it is, is across the U.S. I don't know if I want to gamble a plane ticket and a couple days off work on a hunch. I'll probably kick myself if I don't go and it's there.
Well I gotta get to bed....gotta work in the morning.
