Treasure Clue, can you help?

RE post 1269

> The other clue regarding the possible Green OR location was "sgrt specs"...maybe there is a statue of a sargent..airforce maybe, if so if he's wearing "specs" the token could be behind his specs <

Hey Patchy!

I guess no one on this forum was in the military because a Sargent is classified as a Spec 5 (specialist, step 5). My husband was a Spec 6 when he was discharged.

My Treasure Hunt

Since everyone is talking about their weekend treasure hunt, I will tell you mine.

After a lengthy church service, my husband and I went for lunch at the nearby Seminole casino and Hard Rock Hotel. He convinced me to visit some of the new slot machines after lunch. (I firmly believe white people need to give a little back of what was stolen from the Indians, so I never mind.)

On the first spin of a new Coyote game, I won $60!! (Naturally, I put a little back in before we went home :-)

Kidding us?

Black Beard, you said you went treasure hunting with your six-year-old daughter, and then you tell us you just turned 14! What gives? And if that is your father's picture posted in your profile, he is very nice looking.

As attractive as the Monopoly board theory is, I feel that this is not the case. The layout of the monopoly board is a jealously defended copyright of Parker Brothers, I don't think MS would have used it as paranoid about litigation as he is! 8)

Pancho- Odd syntaxes, yes. Misspelled words everywhere. Sentences that done make sense-"they seldom steal anything save buttons and socks"??? What sense does that make?? As for the caps just watch were they are used, totally unappropriate, some are yes, but most are not. Why cap Ground Forces?? Another example page 57 Why cap Master??? Why cap forest creatures??? Page 73 why cap red in Condition Red??? Page 74 why cap Elves??? page 50 why is Would capped??? you can find every letter in caps except a Q... Anyway whether thier proper or not thier all capped except Q, which isn't in the book regardless but the caps help you see that...
The computer told "someone" that one piece nary was on page 41, never said it was you, but it did help someone who may find it BEFORE you...
If you would care to share your possible solution to- within the text... , maybe we can help you finish it. BIGONES man... I would LOVE input on the fairies, if anyone has an idea on how they relay the final resting place, please give me a clue... To me, the only thing that the 13 have in common is that they are all pointing to one side of a line or a nother... Maybe the side of an interstate??? ?To actually pinpoint if they ?are pointing to a particular letter or such is a little obsurd, no offense if thats what you think, but i could follow one of there fingures to 2 or 3 possibliteies... page 16 is he pointing at the Z or the T or H in the??? page 20, is he pointing at the F or the r or e in forest??? Who can say??? There seeem to be vines or lines of some kind by all the pointing fairies and they are pointing to one side or the other... Thats the only FOR SURE thing i've noticed about them all...

Litdoc- that's what you call sarcasim... A few here are kind of acting that young... Thanks for the compliment though... That is me, 32 years old and i have a 10 year old daughter, a 9 year old boy and a 6 year old daughter... We just went agian today on what you might call a "different" Easter Egg hunt and had a ball... I do have more pictures of them and myself, never mind- that is not on the subject of treasure so TALLY HO MATE... WHAT SAY YOU????? Any recent hunts you care to share???

BLACKBEARD i thought of those vines you mention as possibly being a river or a hiking trail. we have the katy trail here in mo. and at one point thought one of those vines resembled the katy trail as i see it in my map of mo. just a thought of maybe something other than an interstate. how about connecting them all and seeing what river ( say the mighty mississippi ) it could represent.

LOVE that idea Cm- I also thought of possibility of the Lewis and Clark trail as well... But as far as the mighty Miss, the place i searched and thought had to be there was right on that bank although they can't all be along it or the west coast could never make it... Glad to see I'm not alone on that theory... NEED FAIRIES INPUT!!!!!!

On the subject of those vines and lines- notice page 22's vine if you turn book upside down and look, it's one of the many I 80's I'm seeing...

I'M NOT PROMOTING STATE WELCOME CENTERS!!!! but if any of you live NEAR one whether it be on I 80 or not, check it out... I may be wrong about 80 but the rest area thing i may have hit a nerve on... If anything you learn more about your state, but also may get lucky... One thing I noticed on the scenic overlook thing was that the machine you put 25 cents in to see has numbers around the base 0-99. Back to hidden well no EYE can see...? If you had a certain # to point the bi-nocs to and just looked up and down at that setting with the help of binocs(no eye can see) maybe you might see it stuck to a tree or something... Just grasping- I've had a few cocktails since the kids left and feel like sharin'... Anyone there???

Yes, BB, I have been on a treasure hunt (read down a few postings). ?While I did not walk away with gold, I did get some green! ? ;D

> They seldom steal anything save buttons and socks. < ?This makes sense to one who reads a lot of fairy tales. ?If you look in your drawer and find a sock without a match, and while getting dressed, if you notice a button missing from your pants, it's because the fairies stole them (or the Borrowers if you are reading Mary Norton's books).

I have also noticed the odd capitalization. ?I don't know if it is a clue or if it is a result of a novice author publishing his own book without a publisher's copyeditor (and they are brutal ?>:(). ?It is common for people to capitalize words (usually nouns) that they think are important in a sentence. ?(In German all nouns are capitalized.) ?However common it is, it is not standard spelling if the word is not a name (proper noun) or at the beginning of a sentence, title of a book, etc. ?

AND the author is not consistent in what he does and does not capitalize. ?For example, the bug's names are not always in caps. ?Now, can someone give an opinion on whether this is a clue, and if so, how can we decipher it?

Your hunt was in a Casino??? Take the kids??? Did the machines spit out any leaf shaped tokens???

The last ten posts or so have made me realize that Mike wasn't necessarily trying to make us find the woods per say, but just to spend time with our children doing something other than TV or video games... Our children are turning into vegetables and we must stop it... They are OUR FUTURE...

For Litdoc...

? I'm bored, so here's a pic of my boy and I last x-mas...? Sorry for the distraction folks, just having a little Easter Fun...

Sorry Less- I'm still human, and haven't had Anna or the fairies talk to me yet... Oh how i wish i was a Halfling... Have locations but no gold...

BB, again, the Nomenclature book is written in Old English. ?And the phrase you pointed out is actually frequently used today . . .

"With the hurricane fast approaching the coastline, there was little left in the local supermarket save some brooms and tile floor cleaner."

As for the caps, again I think it's simply MS's use of proper nouns in the book. ?Why Ground Forces? ?Why Air Force?; Why Master? Why Lord? ?The Would you point out is simply the nature he uses to exhibit the slow pace of Snail's speech. ?You'll notice every other word he says throughout the book is capitalized.

tsa, I am also a monopoly collector, but I can tell you that it is not likely to be part of the solution to this particular game. ?However, if it was, a token would have to reside in Atlantic City, as that is the city where the streets on the Monopoly board are from.

Good point Panch- but the only reason I'm really stuck on it is because of his first clue where he misspelled a word and said it was a hint to look for anagrams, thats all... And with the name in hand the fairies will show you where to go, and I'm just trying to figure out what the heck they are saying... HELP... Anna did press them in thier hands to go and hide...

Bored again and another suggestion- Waypoints(using GPS) Are 6 to 5 characters(letters) a piece, so the 5x5 box thing using letters(minus the Q) instead of numbers could give you 12(5 across, 5down, and 2 diag.letters) waypoints-geographically speaking...

Well here in the middle of the US, I'm about to turn into a pumkin so DREAM well all and for the last time today HAPPY EASTER!!!!!!!!

p.s.- sorry for all the back to back posts folks, but I was bored and it's a holiday...
