Treasure Clue, can you help?

Don't remember seeing this mentioned , sorry ahead of time if it has , but the poem around the border on pg 16 has 25 letters in it if we can figure out the letters before and after the word and in the poem . just a thought .

Hey Carol,
Not sure what you are saaying with that last post maybe you could explain what you mean a little more?

Tracie , there are 25 letters in the poem , but at the bottom of the page where the word AND is there is a letter after the D and one before the A , but the problem is is that i don't know what the letters are i'll post the pic again. also the drop cap box has 25 boxes in it . It was just a thought don't really know if it has any meaning at all

sorry couldn't find the picture , but i posted it on pg 33. let me know , carol

Carol, it is possible those are just extra trees to have an even number on matching sides. Go ahead with your 25 letters theory without them and see what we come up with.

Litdoc ,? some i heard believe it is the letter? ?S? ?before the? A? in and . I've tried to see the? S? but can't seem? to see it . Now? the picture i showed before i? would really like to know? what it is as it has bothered me since i saw it and none of the other trees have anything in them so i think it means something , but what is the question.? Now my thought was as you said to go ahead with the letters as are in the poem and keep the? S in it and that would give us 24 with one piece nary , but then i'm stuck as to what to do with it and how to put the letters in the box. Any ideas on how to do this or do you think to scrap it all together ? let me know , carol

One more thought on the parts of the story that seem strange . Does anyone think that those sentences ..... Bumpy round gourd .... could be the riddles from the companion book?

hey everyone,

I see since I have been gone the hunt has really progressed. I went on a hunt to wisconsin in these campgrounds I thougt the token could be. For two days I searched and searched finding a few things refering to the book or questionable ot the book. Than I saw it a lone standing tree with a big knothole in it i ran to the tree, when I got closer I saw that next the the knothole were carved the initials MS into the tree. I reached inside to grab my token BUT WAIT??? it wasnt there :o I thought surely I had found it but guess not, just thought I would share that story about my trip to brighten up the chat a little. GOOD LUCK TO ALL.

Dykos, sorry the trip was a bust , but it sounded as if you probably had the best time ever and a few good laughs . I agree with Trapape when she said that there are just toooooo many coincidences in this book .

Thanks for all the response on my idea , but i don;t think it holds any water . Just a thought , but jewels suggested to me another key and another suggested both as 5's . Don't know at this point , but it sure sounded good at the time . carol

I'm curious about the pink numbers that the fairy is pointing to in the beginning of the text..
Could these be page numbers or just the 13 jewels in a scrambled order???

Does anyone know?

Hi all,

Since the key is within the text, I decided to go back and spend sometime with it instead of the illustrations for awhile.? So here are a few thoughts that I'd like someone to help me expand on.? The most obvious place for MS to have placed a key in the text is in the unmarked, ethereal dream chapter.? So this is the one that I focused my energy on.? The "Moon like, moon like..." poem seems to draw our attention to the crecent shaped dandelions found throughout the book.? The thing is that we only see the white form of the dandelion, which interestingly enough is known as the "dandelion clock" (form answers.com).? An earlier series of posts seemed to touch on the issue of the dandelions indicating specific times.? Going form this, the poem says "..Dreamer one on ending..." The end of the dream "chapter" is a reference to 'noon tomorrow'.? It seems that time/clock may be part of the key.? A couple of unexplained links to this include: a 'missing' dandelion clock (46, 83) and the largest number of seeds on a single page (77).

Also, someone earlier talked about the fact that everything that happens in Zac's dream comes true (crystal Pook, grotto, finding the jewels/Ana...).? But what about the box enigma?? The text doesn't ever say that he sees an actual box when he stands at the mouth of the grotto.? Instead, what he sees is a hand.? Now, the only link that I can seem to make is that there are certainly five (fingers) to a side and that the sport of boxing is a hand sport.? But what new things does he see that he can fill it with?? (With name in hand? the faeries know...)

Also, something else that I would like to know is why Ana can't escape for the tree herself?? In the text, it says that Zac runs into the grotto, finds her, and then "His hand? touched the willow stump then Ana's hand ."? After that it was just a matter of breaking the limbs of the tree to free her.? Interesting that it is Ana's hand that he touches, and even more interesting is that MS says that he touches the willow stump first.

These are just attempts to bring the text into focus.? Hopefully, you all have noticed similar things and can help me to start ellaborating on these thoughts.? Also, if there are any Tolkien fans out there, The Hobbit seems to have influenced MS's writing a bit...? Any chance pg. 41 says 'elven code'?

Has anyone noticed that the audio book CD is different from the book book? In the book chapter 18 THE RANSON ends with the sentance, >Timid in life, he would forever look brave in death.< This is on page 92. And chapter 19 THE RAIN starts on page 94, with >The air was heavy, still and misty.< On the CD chapter 18 ends with >As they walked, it began to rain harder than it ever had before.< Which is two paragraphs into chapter 19. Any ideas on this??? ???

Azlocked & shadoelady welcome !

Shadoelady i don't have the CD to the book , but i do find it strange that the two are different . I think he went to great lengths to make sure all was in order so i don't think it was an accident . I don't know much on how the book to tape thing works , but would think that you just read the story how it is written . That makes me think it was no accident .

Azlocked , i enjoyed reading the post and think you have some great ideas on it . wish i had something to add to help at this point , but you have given me something to study up on . I really don't think it could be elven code though , sorry . carol

Hi,
? On the CD I think it is just for entertainment. I thought the acting
and the music was great! MS did say the clues are in the book only.
I do think it helps to listen to it, but be-aware that the words are not
exactly the same.

Argh Maties...

Has anyone heard when MS is going to reveal the answer to the last clue??? The last one went just about a month and so far this one is just over a month...

Carol,

What's with the ladybug, spider behind missouri? Are those the 2 you believe you have solved?

Blackbeard , nice to see you post again. I wish !!! Actually everyone was putting their states on the profile so i thought i'd put the ones i'd like to find . That's all . Why do you know something i don't ? ha ha . I just thought it made everyones profile a little more personal and liked it so i just went a little further . Any news for the hunt ?

Hey guys!? You don't know me but I've been reading your posts since January.? I've just now decided to come forward with my thoughts...

Has anyone thought that "within the text" might mean within "the text" ?? As in - the word "hex" is within t-h-e-t-e-x-t.? I don't remember who had said this, but an even code with one piece nary might mean binary.? And Hex would be a step up from Binary.

I'm not saying that I know where these thoughts fit into the puzzles, or if they even do.? Just thought I'd throw them out there in case anybody can use the info.? I'd rather not type in all the Hex codes for each letter - I'm sure there is a site on the web somewhere that does conversions.? But, for those of you that don't know, hex counts from 0 to F, and the ASCII hex code for the letter "q" is 71, the letter "j" is 6A, etc.

Just my thoughts... now I can live in peace!
