Whats that? With the shadows and all looks like a bear sitting on its haunches guarding
a shadow heart that may be cracked at the bottom.
If so and not just a trick of the light - danger - twofold warning!

Hard to tell what it is or what it is made of and it could just be fall of shadow and limb and rock that makes it look like that.

There is carving lower right on that bear thing. And possibly on that small rock directly in front of it.

Is that another deformed cactus in the background or a gnarled twisty tree? Back behind it possibly a face.

In the large formation in back, on right... another face looking to the right.

Sorry, don't know much about cacti. Would it be possible to blow that bear section up a little?

By the way, this is speculation. I'm no expert.

Sheldon,
Welcome, and thanks for the pics you posted.
As for cacti, the Spaniards and/or Mexicans, would
cut a band, all the way around any manipulated cacti
as a confirmation mark, some times I have seen two
bands at the base of a worked over cacti.

I do see a nice profile face in the first photo, and a pretty
camoed puma to the left of the face, which is looking left.

I think you have an Alpha Monument there!

At the foot of the cactus, to the left, is a large
boulder, lite up from the sun, this is a rough
vauge face, the eye socket is a shadow, that
happens to have an owl shape to it...

There is a number 13 or a 'B' at the bottom of
the eye shadow, telling you that the owl is no
illusion, confirmed by the 13th letter of the alphabet

To the left of this is the Puma, he is black and grey
it is a masterpiece! His ears stand out first, then his
eyes, then the head and body, he is looking slightly to
the left.
His right eye is a mushroom, above that is a small 'm'.
There is a number 7 near his left eye, below a Bear
shadow as DM said, the bears head is touching the Pumas
mouth, so death trapped at the entrance, is what that is
saying....

That what I see from this angle for now..I dont have a paint
program on my Mac, so some one else can mark those when
the see them - other wise this is a good learning example.

Study this pic until your eyes focus not on the sunlite parts but
the shadows, once your brain re-sees these things, then you
will always be able to see them, at first only when the pic is taken
and displayed, years later, you can see them without photographing
them , I hit that level this last expedition, when the Black Dog was
so pronounced I thought we would fall off the bouler he was on!

Good luck - follow thru by trying to see what the puma is seeing.
and let us know,
thanks
rangler

The funny part about this photo is the only reason I shot it was it looked cool, I like landscapes with unusual features.... Have a heap more too....
Behind me in the same area is a nice large rotten quartz out cropping that has washed down, went over the area with my 2100 V2 and a fine tooths comb and found absolutely nothing.... but did bring back some real nice looking rocks for my rock garden....

I did not explore that area with anything else except the cammera, looked too rough and was time limited.... good thing I did!

I just wish I was more astute at this treasure sign thing, I did buy the book some time back that has what he calls treasure U and his book "Treasure Hunters Field Notebook" by Mike Pichett with all his personal notes n stuff that came with it.

That at least is a starting place, but I have learned so much more in my short time here that it is not even remotely funny. Not real sure what all the stuff in the photo means but in another photo I took just south of that spot has several figures that appear to be standing made of stone that face the area. I'm not sure what is there but what ever it may be they sure wanted to be able to find it again at a later date!!!

Studying and restudying Old Dogs thread is a good place to start. Then read almost every thread in this forum a few times for learning...It helpedr me..though i've never found anything except maybe an empty hole. But then again..i am not really looking too hard..just attempting to solve the puzzles of the Spanish ways for fun.

I was browsing some of the area photos yesterday with a friend and came across this one. It is a short distance to the south of the alpha site if you look in the upper left hand corder you can see some rock figures looking in that direction... again I only shot this because of the unusual formations I like landscapes and have a photographers eye....

Just a few things I see. #1 A face. #2 OWL . #3 Bear . #4 Open Book . #5 Angry face with pursed lips - could represent a wind or direction. Great post and you certainly do have a good eye . Jim

All that stuff down in front is glitz,
Hate to say it ... You guys aren't looking at where the pointers tell you to look.

There are a pair of twins in the circle that will make a gunsight when you are positioned right.
Pay a little attention to the notch that the arrow is pointing to.
These two are the ones that will take you over the hill.

and the twins lead us to the area my earlier photo was taken at..... There must be something special real close to there for them to have gone to all that effort....

The only reason to back trail at this point is to check out signs to correct directiom.
follow the trail the direction it leads, or never find the end or a possible treasure site.

Take your time and be safe.
