Tribe found in N. Indiana!!! Also, token & mystery ring.

SHORT VIDEO of my detecting spot:

I hope everyone is well. My family and I just returned from a vacation in my hometown area of LaPorte, Ind.
My wife and daughter went to Chicago a few days to spend money, and my son and I fished a lot.
I had some old late 1800's maps and had intended to track down an old long gone school to detect. I soon found it was located in a corn field which was now about 9' high. Needless to say, that was disappointing. :( With all of the running around and visiting family and friends, my detecting time was very limited. I was able to gain permission to detect the old late 1800's house as seen in the video. It is located in a very small town about 100 yards from an old train stop and tavern. I was only able to detect the front yard since the back yard was overgrown. Within 5 minutes I had an IH penny, so I was very excited. I found some nice stuff in this yard, and can only hope to detect the backyard some day.
Here's my finds:

*FIVE IH pennies!!! : 1865 , 1889 , 1891 , 1902 , 1906.
The 1865 is my oldest IH so far. Ya-hoooooo!!!!

*1915 Canadian One Cent (holed).

*A 5 cent Bar Token- "Good for 5 cents at the bar - John T. Hernigle"
I'm hoping to track this name down to possibly the original tavern name a few doors down. I'm guessing the token is early 1900's ?

*1920 Merc

*1953 & 1956 Rosies

*1944 war time nickel

*20 Wheats!!! - Some dates are: 1910 , 1914 , 1917 , 1918 , 1919, etc.

*A MYSTERY RING (silver).
I could really use some help on IDing this one. I think it may be a ring made from a coin. :icon_scratch:
It is slightly smaller than a nickel, and slightly larger than a dime. I can see a date of "1916" and possibly some letters of "liberty".
A neat find no matter what!

*A 18mm flat button w/shank ' "Warranted Rich Orange" back mark.

*Old brooch with colored stones. I'm guessing there was a large rectangular stone in the center at one time. :icon_scratch:

*Asst'd other pieces.

Thanks for looking Folks. Have a great week.

Wow!!! That was a quick ID.
Please tell me the person that made this didn't use a 1916 SLQ to make this ring!!! :o
Check out the mintage & value on a 1916 SLQ. Could it be? :icon_scratch:
Thanks Fireman.

as soon as I saw that ring, I cut loose with a mighty AAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRGGGGGG!!!!!!!!!!!!. That is more cruel than the whole lucy/Charlie brown football thing !! Oh the filthy dealings of cruel fate !!

Technically tho, you did find a "holy grail" quarter.

Great video and finds.
Now THAT'S a vacation!!!

Re: Tribe found in N. Indiana!!! Also, token & mystery ring.

Nice finds! I can only dream of finding a house like that to detect (or, rather, getting permission to hunt a house like that). Next time you're up in the Chicago area, give me a ring, the Chi-Town T-Net Boys welcome you!

I wonder what ANACS would grade that coin ring as. lol

I was wondering where you've been...

Doug, you really scored on the limited time you had to detect!!

That is one front yard in your vid that I would love to hunt around. ::)

That coin ring is very intriguing!! I can't quite make out what is next to the date on either sides of your last pic. Help me out. Also some of the lettering is hard to make out. Man, I'd hate to think it was the rare date SLQ that the ring was made out of. Most of those quarter rings are made out of barbers or Washingtons, but it doesn't look like a '16 Barber quarter.

You did very well!!

Thanks Joe.
I'll keep you guys in mind. I'm going to try to make another trip up that way in the fall. I saw sooooooooooo many old properties back there I want to detect. It was killing me. :'(

Great digs in a short time

Re: Tribe found in N. Indiana!!! Also, token & mystery ring.

Great bunch of finds ! Rest easy - your coin ring appears to be a 1916 French 1 franc coin. The "EGA" visible is part of "Egalite". The rim decoration on either side of the date also matches.

Thank God. ;D Thanks Doug. That's good to know. I'll have to track down a picture of the 1916 One Franc coin.

Re: Tribe found in N. Indiana!!! Also, token & mystery ring.

Thanks everyone for the great replies. This house was one of the funnest (and best) I've ever hunted as far as coins. I was very happy with my finds. I'm looking forward to going back to try some other old houses in the area. So many houses, so little time.

Doug Dude, that sucks to hear about the school site area. You'll get it on your return trip, buddy.

You cleaned house on the Injun pennies. Overall, it was a great day for the dougster.

Thanks Kyle.
I wonder if the current tavern would honor that 5 cent token? :icon_scratch:
The holed coin really gave me a thrill before I realized it was a Canadian coin. I was hoping for an 1800's U.S. coin. :(
Can't wait to get back there again.
