Tribe found in N. Indiana!!! Also, token & mystery ring.

SHORT VIDEO of my detecting spot:

I hope everyone is well. My family and I just returned from a vacation in my hometown area of LaPorte, Ind.
My wife and daughter went to Chicago a few days to spend money, and my son and I fished a lot.
I had some old late 1800's maps and had intended to track down an old long gone school to detect. I soon found it was located in a corn field which was now about 9' high. Needless to say, that was disappointing. :( With all of the running around and visiting family and friends, my detecting time was very limited. I was able to gain permission to detect the old late 1800's house as seen in the video. It is located in a very small town about 100 yards from an old train stop and tavern. I was only able to detect the front yard since the back yard was overgrown. Within 5 minutes I had an IH penny, so I was very excited. I found some nice stuff in this yard, and can only hope to detect the backyard some day.
Here's my finds:

*FIVE IH pennies!!! : 1865 , 1889 , 1891 , 1902 , 1906.
The 1865 is my oldest IH so far. Ya-hoooooo!!!!

*1915 Canadian One Cent (holed).

*A 5 cent Bar Token- "Good for 5 cents at the bar - John T. Hernigle"
I'm hoping to track this name down to possibly the original tavern name a few doors down. I'm guessing the token is early 1900's ?

*1920 Merc

*1953 & 1956 Rosies

*1944 war time nickel

*20 Wheats!!! - Some dates are: 1910 , 1914 , 1917 , 1918 , 1919, etc.

*A MYSTERY RING (silver).
I could really use some help on IDing this one. I think it may be a ring made from a coin. :icon_scratch:
It is slightly smaller than a nickel, and slightly larger than a dime. I can see a date of "1916" and possibly some letters of "liberty".
A neat find no matter what!

*A 18mm flat button w/shank ' "Warranted Rich Orange" back mark.

*Old brooch with colored stones. I'm guessing there was a large rectangular stone in the center at one time. :icon_scratch:

*Asst'd other pieces.

Thanks for looking Folks. Have a great week.

What a great assortment of finds MM, I can't even pick a favorite. I think I would see if they would take the token at the bar, would be a fun thing to try. :D

Wow MM... :o That sure was a Productive Vacation...I'll Have one of them please... ;D Congrats and HH

Have you been to the Plantation Lately?? ???

Thanks Wyatt.
I'm pretty much staying away from the plantation until fall. It's just too hot for me here right now, not to mention the ticks.
I may try to get a group hunt together over there in the fall.
Have a good one.

Thanks BB.
A very unusual find for sure. I thought I was seeing things when I spotted that "1916" on the inside. I'm so glad it was readable.
The ring is super light.
Good luck this week,
Doug

Re: Tribe found in N. Indiana!!! Also, token & mystery ring.

Do you realize how tempting it is for me to head west of Michigan City? Love the finds and when you're back this way and looking for a hunt buddy, let me know!

Great finds!

Thanks Vibes.
Are you in MC? I am going to try another trip up to LP before winter. I have a few old houses picked out already. I love it up there.
Besides, I need to dig up some coins to recoup what I lost last week at the Four Winds Casino while I was up there. :tongue3: ;D

Doug,
Looks like you made the most of the time you did have. Very nice finds. You have me beat on oldest IH. Those IH's look great too. I especially like the Canadian LC. Does this mean you won your bet? Fat chance. :tongue3: It still is a LC but if it were US currency it would be a wheat penny.

Too bad you couldn't get the back yard too. Probably just some barbers back there.

Thanks Bob.
You have a point there. It still is an LC. Let me ask Nick if this qualifies for our wager. :icon_scratch:
I just sent the owner an e-mail with pictures and info of what I found. I hinted about letting me detect the backyard next time too. We shall see. I'm glad to hear I have you beat on an old coin (IH) in at least one catagory. After looking at some of your coin finds, I'm honored. :icon_king:
I hope all is well with you and yours (family, not detectors). :tongue3:

HEY NICK,
Does my 1915 Canadian penny count as a LC????????? :tard:
