Well it was back to the exact same pounded to death site I have hunted the last 4 or 5 outings. I have pulled 8 injuns out of there the last 2 hunts...well now make that 10 injuns. I wish the scan would have been better of the 1897 as it's probably the nicest injun I've ever dug. It's absolutey beautiful under a magnifying glass and every single line is as clear as it gets. It was in the hole WITH a screwcap at 8"...I kid you not.
Then got a sweet...but really weird high hit that gobbled like a turkey yet it seemed to have a screw cap hit mixed in with it. The cursor absolutely locked on silver so I dug. Down about 7" out popped the 1939 merc. When I ran the sunray probe in the hole again...BINGO...another silver hit. Dug down another 1" or so and out pops the sweet 1956 quarter AND another screwcap. I think this was my first multiple silver hole this year.
About 20 minutes later I got the 1910s wheatie at 8" and man was it a strong hit.
Plugged along for another few minutes then hit the goofy messed up love token that says "Gerald LNVES Doris"..well obviously Gerald had some problems spelling the word "love"...so Doris probably chucked it...where it sat for 30 or 40 years until I found it at 8" down.
As for the 14K band...I would love to be able to say how proud I am for digging 200 pulltabs and finally finding the band...but it was nothing but luck because I do not have the time...patience...or knees to dig tab/nickle hits. I got a nice but differing tone wheatie hit so I figured it was a wheatie in with trash. I got down 7" and popped out the wheatie...then again ran the probe around the hole. Off to the side of the hole I got a nickle hit which explained why the sound varied on the initial hit. Well I popped out the supposed nickle but it turned out to be the 14k band!!...so there was absolutely NO skill involved on my part...I was merely digging the wheatie hit and got ridiculously lucky with the band. Thanks for viewing and good luck hunting.

Thanks G. Yeah I bet Doris wasn't too happy with Gerald's spelling.

I've been watching your posts and you are really finding a lot of indian head cents. You must be getting good depth with that SE

HILARIOUS!!! ;D

SF,
Fantastic hunt! Gold, silver, and IH's. You can't beat it. That had to be a real kick finding doubles in the holes, especially the 14K ring.
Great post.
Congrats,
MM

Thanks itbeepsidig. Yeah...I'm finally in the 7" to 10" range on coins that I need to be.

Hey guy, nice diggin. Sometimes the detecting gods smile down on us and let us find a good suprise in the hole. I have found several gold rings this same way. You must be doing something right with your machine to find the coins and stuff at those depths. I have preached for years about hunting slow and rechecking those weird signals. If in doubt DIG.

Keep on diggin

Thanks Les. Yeah...the weird hits are where most of the goodies are anymore. Dead on high hits have long disappeared around here.

I am kind of a freak for silver also. I found an abandoned park in my home town 3 years ago. Most of the area was unhuntable but the 1 1/2 acres that was, was fantastic. There were no targets above 6 inches and I dug 74 silver over a 2 year period. 52 were barber along with about 70 plus Indians. Almost all of the hits were crappy signals as there was coal and iron particals in the ground. (next to a railroad tracks) I use an old proto type CZ6 and had several SE hunters try their luck there. Most other hunters had trouble with the signals. It was hard to convince them that they had to dig those type of signals.

Like you said "there isn't many good clear signals left in most places anymore."

Les...I used to pound some soil with a cz6. It is still a killer.

Nice finds,

I have the same band but set in silver. I'd say they are of a older style. Probably the 50's or 60's.

Thanks Jer. I figured the band was at least 40 years old. It weighs over 8 grams. :)

Thyat was a great 2 hour hunt.
Congrats on those nice finds.
That Minelab is smokin. :)

Thanks MM. Yeah it was great and it just never happens for me anymore...but it happened twice on this hunt.
