Turkey Tail or Beaver Tail?

What is the difference between Turkey or beaver tail points? This one has a wide tail like a beaver.

The stem certainly looks like a beaver's tail. If that is the type of point, I don't know. Nice piece any way. I had never heard of a beaver tail until I read one of your post. I wander if they are found in NC?? I doubt it.

It looks like a Beaver tail variant to me a Harrison Turkey tail. 4000-2500 BP.Like Nat. Said. Late archaic to woodland.The material looks like Mississippi valley stuff ? J.m.o.

are the notches chipped from both sides? possibly a knife with a shaft scrapper on each side.

I am sure you know the type or the name. And didnt give it. But I believe Nat is correct just the tail is wider than most.

I'd have to disagree with you on that being a beavertail , gatorboy is kinda right id say by saying its a variant but of a turkeytail i don't think. id say its a variant of something or just an odd pc they didn't work on these points every single time with a "type" in mind.
