Are you an expert Dumpdigger? Coin Shooter or Relic Hunter? Do you take a high tech approach or a low tech approach to find buried historical objects? We - a successful television production company - are searching for real diggers with both types of ‘experience’ to host a history / adventure TV show. We’re looking for a know-it-all that wants everyone to know it.

Please send a recent photo of yourself, and a brief note outlining your passion to cabletvshow1@gmail.com. We love to read blogs and follow web links; have you been on camera? Please send us a link to the video. All replies will be answered.

GypsyHeart for relics...
She's got the historical knowledge, a feisty personality... and let's just face it, the looks that are sure to give good ratings!
Plus, she's known as the "Queen of Rust" on the forums because of her love for all types of relics!!

Bran <><

Ditto on GypsyHeart. She packs allot of knowledge on those relics. As a matter of fact I will nominate her

They could do a lot better if they got a team from treasurenet together. I think after all the ghost hunting shows and UFO hunting shows that have done so well, a show where people actually FIND something would be more enjoyable. They could show the process from begining to end, all the research, the finding of an item, the ID process, and then the history connected with the item. Just a thought...

I think we should do teams also...how fun and crazy would that be? ....We could take famous leads and follow them through....there are enough great brains on this forum that if we worked together we could do it!

Or maybe this is a hoax and they just want all of us sensational Tnet Ladies to send them videos of ourselves......LOL :P

Definately don't think you should do that Gypsy, but just in case you do. Can I get a copy ? ;D :D ;)

I don't want to be a wet blanket to someones aspirations to be a star, but I shy way from publicity. Having been in the news a few times I've learned bad things come about because of it. People come out of the woodwork wanting the return of their father's Rolex. Archeologist's get more fuel for their laws to perserve the past and leave it in the ground to rot away since they aren't interested in bring anything new to light. We have to many areas closed now because a arrow head was found in some park and they wanna save all the pull tabs for themselves.

The use of a team is a good idea though as a mixture of hunt styles comes into play.

I have to agree with Sandman 120%

I would Definately Watch & Enjoy such a show,
But I fear it would be the Downfall of our Hobby.

Just Read what happend on Cash & Treasure after the Outhouse Digging Show

Here is an Excerpt.

Could you be any more irresponsible with your stupid make "cash BY DIGGING UP OLD BOTTLES" show? Do you have any idea what cultural resources or cultural heritage means? Old trash right? just an old privy. As a professional archaeologist I have to say that not only did you horrible show on bottle collecting exemplifies the lame "finder's keeper's mentality", it is flat out dangerous. While you might have called it "old trash" let me clue you in on something. Those are artifacts, all of the items. everything that you disturbed while looking for bottles and cash reward has been taken out of any possible historical context and is thus completely useless in providing any understanding of our collective American history. How cares about our history? Well certainly not good old Becky.

Cash & Treasure was never able to Reair the Show or put Excerprts on their Web site.

I Wouldn't be surprised if the Travel Channel was Threatened.

Sorry this is the U.S. archaeologists Mentality not Englands.

He's right! We should all turn to piracy and steal them from museums who have already disturbed the "temple" of history. After all, all they want is "information and knowledge" and so the objects themselves they should be done with once cataloged.

Can't be on TV. Witless Protection Program and all that.

Couldn't watch it is I was, only get the local CBS station on my rabbit ears antenna. :D

I'd love to, but unfortunately I live in Oregon. I believe the bottle digging show was filmed right here. I've done a little airtime for local stations and helped organize a prospecting rally before.

The negative aspects of showing what you know in this state are horrendous. I'd hate to see it get like Florida.

I'd still do it if the locations could be kept secret, even though I have a face for radio, heheheh!

Archaeologists are nothing but thieves hiding behind self-agrandising titles. Hey, Mr. Television Producer, why don't you make a documentary about different big-named archies and include shots of all of the relics they have "borrowed" from the various "digs" they've been associated with. To hear them tell it; only an archaeologist has the knowledge and attitudes required to privately display old relics and all MDers should be locked up. Never mind the fact that the majority of good location finds are done by amateurs and not prooofeeesionallllls. Mr."You-tore-up-that-outhouse" is full of outhouse "pre-product". >:( ;D ;D

We could have them follow the iron brigade around.....

I've got no problem with that whatsoever. They've been asking us to film our hunts and post YouTube vids. Never gotten around to it...

That'd be one way to satisfy everyone's curiosity. ;)

Plus you might recognize Dale Mlasko as the guy shown on Cash and Treasures with Becky Worley.

http://www.mailtribune.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20071118/NEWS/711180323

Backyard treasure hunters beware. A little-known Oregon statute makes it illegal for anyone to intentionally unearth artifacts more than 75 years old without a permit from the state — even on private property.

After local bottle hunter Dale Mlasko was featured in the Mail Tribune and on the Travel Channel show "Cash and Treasures," he received a letter from the state saying he may have run afoul of the law.

The Oregon State Preservation Office informed him that digging up items on private property that are 75 years or older — even with the property owner's permission — must be witnessed by an archaeologist and signed off by the state.

Both ? >:(

So if the state Signs off & the archaeologist says, "Gee I don't have the time right now,
I Don't get paid enough to come Watch. Maybe Next Year" You gotta Wait or pay him ? :(
Even if you dug into it while Building a Swimming Pool in your own back yard ?

As much as I would love to see a show like this about METAL DETECTORS to let people know WHAT GOOD WE CAN DO in preserving artifacts...I have to agree with Sandman.

Our third hunt at PIPSICO just got axed yesterday..because of the ARCHIES...Bill Thompson and Mary Clemens, of William and Mary College. So, those relics will remain in the ground now for another 100 or so years, unless these ARCHIES get their way and have this 900 plus acres of land removed from the reins of the Boy Scouts of America Tidewater Council and give them time...they will get their way!!!!

As per Bill Thompson, he told me "We DO NOT find history, we DESTROY IT!!!!!!!!"

SO ... right now, I am very bitter and getting the gears turning to find a way to approach this!

ARCHIES are very sneeky....as per our personal experience with one...Dr. David Phelps...hubby gave him permission to do a dig on his property...back in Oct 1998....and back in 2002 (?)...we went to ECU (East Carolina University) for a meeting and to view the artifacts we had not seen and NOTHING WAS THERE!!! Come to find out Dr. Phelps had the ring and a few others items in his HOME IN FLORIDA!!!!!!! It took nearly 4 years, if not a bit longer, to get these artifacts RETURN TO ECU....and we had to threaten a LAWSUIT! And still, some are still not there...they are supposedly STILL in the restoration stage!!! (but we can't find out WHERE!)....still working on that! NOR has Dr. Phelps completed his dissertation (spelling?) about the digs...which HE IS REQUIRED TO DO!!!! It has been 10 years now!!!

Then the guy who originally contacted hubby to gain permission...Fred Willard....after the digs were done, he formed the LOST COLONY RESEARCH CENTER and later sent a letter to my hubby to do another dig. But after reading the paperwork carefully (hubby's really good at that!)... it stated that ANYTHING FOUND BECOMES PROPERTY OF THE LOST COLONY RESEARCH CENTER!!!! LMAO...hubby was like...NO WAY!!!! So the person we thought was pretty cool...turned the other cheek!!! My hubbys land is only a small portion of what his family owned along the Outer Banks and still in the family name! His 6th great grandfather owned alot of land from Salvo to Cape Hatteras! One piece of land, the State of NC basically STOLE it from him!!! Made it a wetland. And his 8th/9th great grandfather (something like that) once owned the land of Bodie Island, before the lighthouse was built....

Anyways...sorry for the rant and getting off subject.... but right now...I have a very SOUR TASTE for ARCHIES and this person who made this post....I haven't seen any responses from them...and I agree...why the 'gmail' if a TV Production Company? What are their credentials? Who are they?
