I recovered this at 7-8" at the site that yielded the 1908 Barber Quarter the previous day...

Any thoughts or knowledge would be apprecitated...

It looks like it has something to do with flying and pilots.

There is the Air Education and Training Command (AETC - Read the outside letters clockwise).
AERO - Air Education and Recreation Organization.
Could AERA = Air Education and Recreation Association?

I am going to guess that this is not an id but it might lead someone to the right id.

I think its an educational medal. AECT Association for Educational Communications and Technology
has a close relationship with AERA American Educational Research Association
