Headed back to an older school I've been hunting for the last year or so. It has been good to me giving up 20+ silver coins, lots of wheats and a fair amount of clad. Now I've started digging the iffy signals and anything else that will beep consistently at least in one direction.

Yesterday I dug this very cool HyVis Motor Oils token. Seeing the recommendations for the different weights of oil depending on the cars mileage took me back a few years ;D It looks a bit damp because I treated it with Blue Ribbon and it hadn't all absorbed yet when I took the pictures.

If anyone has any additional information about the token or the company I would appreciate hearing from you.

Very cool token W... :icon_thumright:

Might want to check out this site for more info: http://www.oldgas.com/

I use them quite a bit to find info on old oil cans and such. HyVis was a motor oil company based in Pa. from what I've been able to find out so far... :)

Thanks for the references. I guess I won't be retiring from selling this one - never mind I'm already retired :tongue3:

yes it is. I especially like it on large cents.

What is "Blue Ribbon"?

It is a very mild cleaner that will remove some surface dirt and scum without changing the color of the coin, especially copper. it also leaves a very thin silicone layer on the surface for protection. I had heard that it is no longer made and hard to find. I've had my bottle for several years.

Interesting token. I guess over 30,000 miles in those days was a lot of miles. And the roads and conditions were horrible. Nowadays 30,000 miles is nothing and the cars, engines and roads as well as the oil's are far superior

An interesting dirty token to add to the collection...my congrats on that one. A nice token always makes my day.

never seen one of those around
