Updated Gen. Crook CW Camp Box & Congrats to Dman & MM on W&E Articles

I added some dropped bullets, eagle buttons, watch key and other recently dug relics to one of my several display boxes from the large U.S. Camp commanded by Gen. George Crook in 1863 that the Tenn. Trio hunted in the late Spring.
My June issue of Western & Eastern Treasures came today and I was pleased to see two Friends had articles published in this edition. Dman had his article "House Hunting Treasures" featured and Modern Miner's (Doug Snyder) article "Metal Detecting for Newbies" is printed on page 55. Congrats to both Dougs and to my friend RTDE3 (Rob Taylor) for having his CW period bottle featured on the COVER of American Digger Magazine in their latest issue just out. I feel like I am surrounded by famous relic hunters. HH, Quindy.

Thanks for the mention!
You are welcome Rob abnd I'm looking forward to seeing your article in print there in a later issue. Maybe it will be in the next issue with the article that Dman and I wrote about the 1800s foreign coinns we dug in middle Tennessee last year. HH, Q.

I appreciate it Allen. I thought of you the other day when I saw some flint arrowhead pieces in a plowed field. HH, Quindy.

Speaking of sitting around the house. Don't he look like royalty? He'll have to leave all that Yankee stuff 'behind' tho. Bubba's done got him swapped over to the other side. I seen it with my own eyes, I did. Streaking around the camp fire with the Confederate flag draped across his backside. Was a sight to see. :D

I'm very proud of all my huntin' buddies! 8) Congrats on those finds Brad and congrats on the articles, ya'll!

Nana :-*
We are proud of our "Donut Dolly" too Nana. I though you and Lisa were "Kudzu Kuties"?-LOL. Brad.

I used to hunt the Crook camps in Virginia years ago (1990s). Those are some great items, and yes--congrats on the excellent W&E articles!

Thanks CS. I hunted a Morgan camp for 6 months in 1997 when I first began hunting that is now off limits to everyone but the landowner's family. Everyone said it had been hunted hard in the 1970s and 1980s before they stopped ALL hunting. When it rained, you could eyeball CW bullets in the paths the cows walked behind their barn. Of course I had to still run my coil over them to make sure that I was not dreaming-LOL. Those days are long gone. The first 2.5 hours I hunted that site I dug 32 of the big .69 cal. 3 ring "Big Boys". Thanks for visiting and HH, Quindy.

As you know Will, they must have been well supplied because they dropped a lot of relics. In February of 1864, Gen. Crook was ordered to travel from Carthage, Tennessee where he commanded the Army of the Cumberland U.S. Divisions there and travel to West Virginia and assume another command. I hope you are well in LA my friend, Quindy.

Beautiful job on your display!
Do you construct the entire piece yourself, or are there 'kits' available?
I keep saying I should display some finds, but find myself putting it off because I don't know where to start :icon_scratch:
I'm headed to read those W&E articles.
Thanks and well deserved Congratulations Guys :hello:

Herbie, we buy the wooden boxes from one of Dman's friends who runs a local knife store. When I post a pic of one, I open the top to reduce glare and not reveal the site location. Hobby shops carry them too. They come in walnut, cherry, oak, and a faded barnwood look with generally red colored foam. Each has 2 locks and a plexiglas hinged top. We have a local sports shop that engraves plates for trophies to make plates with a location on our bigger boxes. We catregorize by site location. The engraved plaques have double sided tape on them that we place on the outside of the glass. D & M Woodcrafts in New York makes some nice ones and they ship them to you safely. I have ordered a few odd side ones from them. There are some nice folks at Southern Star Wooden Display Boxes in Dover, TN who make some good ones and ship them too. I prefer the 12x18x2 inch boxes. They are in the $30-35 range. HH, Quindy.
