Say WD, what kind of accomodations do they have as far a place to hang our hats at night? And I don't mean the brothel. Monty
They have a lot of great motels.I'll post that info later but the one we stayed in had great beds and they had a good breakfast.

Re: Uvalde,Tx In Oct

Getting a good nights sleep is a lot more important to me now than it was a few years ago. That's good news. Monty

Re: Uvalde,Tx In Oct

Brad and I are discussing...at this point it is on the "wait and see" list... :dontknow:

Re: Uvalde,Tx In Oct

I'm marking it down now so count me in. If I see anyone hitchhiking and carrying a metal detector between Dallas and Uvalde I will pick em up!

Re: Uvalde,Tx In Oct

I want to come .... I just don't want to drive down by myself ! I got the van it will ride 8 !

Re: Uvalde,Tx In Oct

OK,let's shoot for the week of 23 Oct thru the 31st.You can leave when you want or stay as long as you want. We'll have at least two places that total about 90 acres(30 &60 w/Cook's Slough running thru both)near Ft Inge and as the Six Pack can attest to,there are many other areas there.

Re: Uvalde,Tx In Oct

Sounds good to me. I've been in S Texas in Sept and it is hot as hades. Should be a little cooler but still warm in Oct. Monty

Re: Uvalde,Tx In Oct

It'll just depend on if I'm able to get off work and figure something out with school, as I should be taking classes by then.
We'll see what happens...
Oh, and you should put the dates in the title of the thread Ron... just so it's a constant reminder for us who tend to forget things easily.

Re: Uvalde,Tx 23-31Oct

Just talked to Justin that has the 60 acres. He hasn't detected the place but he says whenever he goes out and about he usually finds some indian artifacts. He bought a detector about 10yrs ago for another place they had at that time and didn't know what he was doing and it went in the closet and is still there.Said he paid about $500-600 for it at that time but he couldn't even tell me what brand it is,he's forgotten.Said if someone could show him a little he might join us.He said right now the mesquite has gotten real thick but we should be able to walk around ok.What grass there is should be gone by oct.He said the area we will be in should not be 'snaky'(his word).Anyway, anytime is ok with him.

Re: Uvalde,Tx 23-31Oct

One nice thing from last year....we never saw a snake of any kind!!!

Re: Uvalde,Tx 23-31Oct

Ok dumb question. When you went last year did you detect? IF so what did you all find?

ME - You might find a few things in the 'Uvalde or Bust' thread, however, the find(treasure)that required the backhoe, still cannot be released to the public. You'll see the backhoe in that same thread. And ever see a 44 cal, double hammer strike shell casing? That's from only one gun which was manufactured for just one year,1876(Colt).I don't remember if the arrowheads were posted or not.The other members of the Six Pack will have to chime in.I think we remembered to take our detectors.

Re: Uvalde,Tx 23-31Oct

From the sound of it I hear the town is the best find of all. I guess they treat you like royalty down there.

Re: Uvalde,Tx 23-31Oct

The town did treat us well and we all had a great time. The metal finds were slim, not counting the park we warmed up in. Some nice arrowheads were found,Baggins and I found a cool town about 40 miles from there that was neat. We saw about a dozen just exposed confederate horse briddles that had just been dug, that was cool. Once again the biggest find was old friends and new ones which is usually the best find after all!!!
