That throwing star is proof that the art of Kung Foo was invented by the Native Americans who inhabited the area many thousands of years before the white man came along. It surely must be an early Indian artifact given the history of the area? Or the Chinese must have arrived many years before Columbus discovered the new world. And of course that is all true except the part I made up! M  nty

:o That's pile of loot, Cyber! :icon_pirat: And Monty, I thought we had already decided that the Vikings came thru back in the day and left lots of relics.....least they did in Kansas. :D
Ditto, Mel! :icon_thumright:

Judie and the rest of ya...you've had plenty of time to sort thru all those finds! Get 'em posted!!!I wanna see!!!!

For those MDers who couldn't come, you might want to ask WSD who got the garter on this hunt....eh? :hello2: :laughing7:

Seriously though, I think this hunt was a huge success. We didn't find the gold, but we did find a lot of "interesting items", especially one.... ahem... and that will go unnamed. LOL THIS is why I get so po'd at local/state/fed govt getting their greedy fingers into stupid laws about protecting buried "artifacts for future generations". During our hunt, we got to learn history.....we got to dig our fingers into soil where settlers had fought the Indianas......we got to see and touch arrowheads and scraping tools........we got to FEEL what history is all about!!!!!!!!!!!! Instead, the govt would much rather the items deteriorate into rust or dust.......and what good does that do for future generations? And, with this current administration in power, who is to say that we won't be the last generation?

Thanks to people like Burdie, WSD, RR and others, we get a chance to EXPERIENCE what history is all about. And, to top it off, we get a chance to gather in some great friendships. Sitting around, eating rattlesnake..........and roasting marshmallows with TC's family. And then, to top it off, I got to mark off one item on my "Bucket List".......to underwater MD. Now THAT was a HIGH!! :headbang: :headbang:

Folks, this is what LIFE should be about.......EXPLORING the unknown.......FINDING the unknown. Gee, what if we couldn't have landed on the moon because it had to be preserved for "future generations"... :icon_pirat: :icon_pirat:

I truly have enjoyed the hunts, WSD/Burdie/RR...........and hope for many more to come.

the stupid laws are just greed for those in charge.

the idea is to put anything of value under a quarrentine.

preserving the monetary value for the powerful

when or if they ever get around to finding it.

not all but many park officials and workers have detectors.

during so called research u be mighty surprised how

any truly valuable items somehow find private hands.

JUST STOPPIN BY 2 CHECK ON THE FINDS.

congrats sgt jim on the art medal .cool.

I'm a little late at getting things done. I've been running ever since I got home. My daughter is in for surgery this morning, and I've got to get the kids off to school.
The trip to Uvalde will me remembered. My wife, and I had a great time, and met some nice folks. Ron thanks for everything you did to make this a success. The hunt a Five Oaks was something to be remembered. The history of the place really set it off. Found a few good things, but the one item I found was a surprise. The Coffin Handle. I sure hope it will be put back where it belongs.
Hope everyone enjoyed the hunt as much as I did. I found a lot of bullet casing, and some lead. Had one fired musket ball, and a couple of other ringed bullet that made contact with something. Possible fired at indians. I dug a pin, don't know if it was ink, and lead, in front of the old cabin that was pretty old. Found some great fossels, and flint tools also. Again thanks for everything, and my God Bless.....

Great pics OR. Thanks. Looking forward to next time.

Thanks Old River...thanks for making the time for the really important stuff...posting pics! :)

May your daughter sail through surgery with zero problems!! :icon_sunny: :icon_sunny: :notworthy: :notworthy:

Say OR, were those coins old ones or contemporary? Several people said they found coins but didn't really describe them. Very interesting , and what's behind the find of the coffin handle? I'm sure that's a good story. Not trying to be nosy, just trying to absorb some of the pleasure of the hunt vicariously since I didn't get to make it. Monty

Hi Monty. Wish you could have made the hunt. We had a great time. The coins were comtemporary. CLAD. I had one 1941 nickle, and on wheatie that I couldn't read the date on. As for the coffin handle, I dug it up in an area where there were two graves inside a steel fence. I found the handle a good ways from the grave site only about six inches deep. I really didn't want to dig something like that, but it happened. I left the handle with the caretaker of the place to do what he though was best for it. Anyway Ron did a great job putting the hunt together, and we all enjoyed it.

In my soapbox rant above... ;D....I totally forgot to mention Noodle and Dan's contribution in putting on the LBH......sorry, that was inadvertant. You know how I am when I get on my soapbox..... :hello2: :hello2: Although, I found out on this hunt that I can't even begin to compare to Cybercop's soapbox......WOW....LOL You all missed some VERY stimulating conversation. Although, I have to admit there was a close runner-up in the group...LOL :read2: :read2:

Gypsy, if you are out there.....Lordy, we really missed your stimulating presence..... :hello2: Although, I have to admit that our newest member Erika really kept things lively. Hats off to Erika in keeping tabs on Baggin's whereabouts....LOL  :headbang:

OR, those are some good pics. It was really great getting to meet you and your wife. Sure hope you get to make it to the next CTH.......trust me, you will love it.

Excellent finds RR!! That point (pic 5) is awesome as are the others, as is their combined quantity :notworthy: :headbang: :notworthy:

The wedding thing is metal?...

RR you got some very good finds. I really like the points, and flints. Where did you find the written note. I never saw it. It was a pleasure to get to know you, and Alden. I'm sure hoping to make it to the CTHIV in Sept. Like all your finds. You have a pretty good collection of artifacts. Tell Alden I sure liked those peanuts. He put a graving on me...LOL....

Judie, love your finds and the points an flints are the greatest! I sure wish I could have been there! Punch Alden for me ! :laughing7:

WOW nice arrowheads RR,, I dident get to see those.

The wedding prayer is metal. Found at the missionary school site. Will post some better pics tomorrow, the light was fading fast. Everything has Indian works, all the big pieces were found at the monster oak @ 5 Oaks, some at the washout at the missionary school and a few @ Ann's property.

Girl! I know you were happy with finding all those artifacts! :icon_sunny: Even if you were left out in the wilderness alone for hours with all those mean 'ole nasty snakes! :o :D
