Vintage Sterling Silver Mechanical Pencil

I suspect this mechanical pencil is from the 1920’s. It is marked “Sterling Silver” but there no other marks on the pencil. Appreciate any help with identification.

It is most likely a "W.S. Hicks" Telescopic Bullet Pencil. The patent date is 1897, but you are correct, they manufactured these into the 1920's. Retail value is in the $60 - $75 range I believe.

Note: this item should be signed on the telescoping portion? Something like "HICKS Pat. 1897"?

Thank you for the response! I’ve gone over the telescoping portion with a loop and can’t find a mark. Appreciate the lead for the maker! I’ll dig into that one.

Thank yo for the reply! It doesn’t seem to come apart but honestly I’m afraid to put much pressure on the mechanism as it currently operates quite nicely.
