I don't know if you are aware of this issue but I found out about it when I saw that I was getting a list of contacts in my gmail that I didn't know.

What happened was this: I would get an email from someone who used another email client and next to their message was a list of their contacts. At first I thought it was some kind of error on the senders part but after researching, I discovered that this is what gmail does without the other party's consent or knowledge. So basically folks, if you send an email to someone who has a gmail address, they may get a list of all your contacts like I was. I feel it is such a violation of privacy of others that I closed all my google accounts and sent them a letter of complaint in protest. I'm sure it doesn't matter to them but "silence is acceptance" as they say.

You can read about it here. Make sure you read sections 1.2 and 1.3

Good info ! Thanks, FP.

I only use a gmail account on my Android phone as an address to forward sales info to from my regular e-mail accounts, but knowing this, I won't be using it for anything else for sure !

Thanks Peachy, that explanes that E Mail I got with a list of about 20 contacts attached. I contacted the sender and found out that he had just been hacked. Frank

I wonder what the underlying ulterior motives are by this situation? By whom? :icon_scratch:

This addition of all your contacts in mail could easily by written out of the procedure for mail but isn't. WHY?
Are there no settings that can be used to customize whether contacts are sent or hidden? :dontknow:

Could be nefarious.... :evil6:

Best,
Scott
