It's funny how the body changes over the course of time and probably will until the day we die. If I'm not mistaken the bodies metabolism changes every 7 years, so I am now waiting for the right window to reappear.

For years I was always on the thin side and could never gain weight. It seems my metabolism burnt the calories before I even consumed them. I was always hungry and constantly ate decent sized meals all day long. It wasn't until my late 20's and I started having stomach problems the doctor asked what my daily consumption was. Here it is...

8am Breakfast 2 eggs, potato's, bacon/sausage or ham toast juice and coffee.
10am Usually a tuna, or ham & cheese sandwich, bag of chips and a coke
noon Today's special at Martin's Bar and Grill Steak/chicken, veggies, potato, and soda
3pm Cheeseburger and FF's w/coke
6pm Full dinner
9pm Ice-cream, w/cookies or cake and 1-2 qts milk

I ate like this for over a year and I weighed no more than 140-145 pounds at 6' 1" and change

My doctor said just nibble on food all day long and eat healthy snacks in-between meals. It was too hard to keep carrots, or celery fresh in a desk draw, but I did cut back and my stomach improved

I had at one point last year hit 235-40, but now down to 203. I would love to be 185-190, but I think I'll have to bring out my baby pictures to see that again :laughing7:

There are still times today I will overeat without batting an eye, putting away 2 pounds of roast beef, or over 1 pound of pork in a sitting is not a problem.

Well i'd be happy to get back to 250 which is what I weighed when I quit smoking 3 1/2 years ago. I'm 6'6" so 300 doesn't look too bad I guess. My job is labor intensive so I get exercise every day.
My daily menu resembles yours :icon_scratch: minus the full breakfast and replacing it with a banana and a glass of 1% milk with a bowl of cereal. no 10 am meal. regular lunch (sandwich and a single serving bag of chips with a diet coke) no 3pm Micky D's. 6pm dinner (meat, veggie, and potatoes, rice or mac&cheese) and a snack at 8 pm (ice cream or cookies and milk). If I ate like you i'd weigh 400 in less than a year. :laughing7:

You're the size guy I want to have around during those late night beach hunts! :laughing7: "Sure, I have a wallet, but my big friend over there is holding it for me!" :laughing7:

Now that I know your size, I will be sure never to make fun of, or ridicule any of your posts. :laughing7:
My 3pm burger wasn't Mickey D's, the was a great ol grease burger smothered with cheese from the bar. You know, the kind you eat when you want to have an angioplasty. :tongue3:

I have cut back on my portions years ago, but like I said I do love my roasts. Try and find any roast for one person, it's impossible. Most roasts will run 4 pounds, so that is 2 meals for me. The problem is the 2-3 pounds of potato's with it and a 10 oz can of veggies.

What I am doing now is eating one big meal in the morning, then a dinner and I try and avoid all snacking in-between. If I am cooking a breakfast, it's 3-4 jumbo eggs, peppers, bacon, pepperoni and cheese, something I call the "pig" omelet. P.S. any other good leftovers can, and will get dumped in it too; eggs go with almost anything :icon_thumleft: :icon_thumleft:

I'm with ya tee............these are just fake, internet miles right?? ::)

Yea, just thinking about walking made me tired.. Nap time :sleepy2:

Just one very high cal. meal a day, especially if you consume a lot of sugar, can be enough to maintain your body weight. Add in the rest of what you eat all day and it would be a struggle just to stay the same. I'm 6' and through my late 20s was in the best shape of my life and went between 235-245. Now ten years later I was in the gym over the Winter, now out again for a bit, but this time when I return (very soon) I'm not sure which way I want to go... be bigger in that same weight range as years ago, or drop down to about 220 and be very lean. A big part of my going back is for the heath aspect so being lighter with great cardio is what is probably the right choice, but once i get in there I revert to my old ways which bigger was better. I think what I'll probably do is train like i used to, but eat lean, and do a lot of cardio, and that will force my weight down. This was in a way a passion of mine before I bought a detetor but unfortunately digging holes doesn't quite have the same effect!

I was the same way. Eat everything and not gain weight no matter how hard I tried. 37 years after high school I'm still the same size. The only difference is in high school my jeans were 29x34. Now I wear 30x34. (36 is better if I can get it). I just weighed a little bit ago. 145. That's down 7 pounds from 2 months ago. I'm not doing anything different and I feel fine. 6 foot, 145, maybe just beer and bones.

Tee, is your walking done on a treadmill or with the WII machines with the tv?

it takes me 3minutes and 30 seconds to do 2 miles

Clerical error right, that should be 30 minutes?

Naa, you can still mess with me I don't care, I got a sense of humor, warped as it may be at times. Just don't mess with me while i'm eating, I may bite! :laughing7:

At 6'6" 300, and being a detector guy, I'm looking to take out your knee. ;D

You are right though, people hear 300 and think that's very heavy, but on a 6'6" frame it's not that bad. If I was that height I'd probably be right around there too. My buddy the Cladman is about 6 even and he goes about 275, and all he is, is just a big bulky guy. All that having been said, my 250 would be better being 220, and your 300, would be better being 260.

Note to self: Avoid that walking thing...

I looked down and I couldn't see my feet to place one in front of the other. In a panic I thought I had no feet and I was wondering what was holding me up. After I came to on the floor, I was able to see my feet again, so I knew I could stand once again.

That was enough of a workout for one day :icon_thumleft:

For years when I was an active cop I weighed exactly 175, same weight as my highschool senior year. When I retired from the PD and took a desk job, I "blossomed"out at about 190, and held that weight until I quit smoking nearly two years ago. At 190 I didn't look bad because I exercised and walked daily Since then I have blossomed again to 222 and for a while I was at 236! My health problems have made it impossible to walk or exercise much. And even though I am not eating nearly as much as I use to and trying to eat healthy, the weight just keeps blossoming! I know the weight has caused some of my health problems and the health problems have caused some of the weight gains. So, I feel like I am in a Catch 22 situation. But I will "endeaver to perservere" ( movie Outlaw Josie Wales quote). Monty

Monty, just hang in there for the end of the current 7 year cycle, and you may get a quicker metabolism. There are also exercises that don't require much physical strain, although they're better for your cardio, do them enough and you will burn calories.

BTY great movie and Chief George had the best lines ever!!!!

I've been holding steady at 170lbs for about ten years now :headbang:

Normally I don't give out free advise, as that is the one precious commodity I have tons of. In this case I will teach you all a great little secret in weight loss. The best part is that it works each and every day :icon_thumleft:

When you get up, dress, eat a good meal and strap on some weights, say 5-10lbs. Next, go to your scale and weight yourself and make a note. Then take a short walk, come home, drop the weights and weigh yourself again. You will lose 5-10 pounds a day :hello2: Just think how good that will make you feel after a week.

Here, let this exercise video be an inspiration to you all

Some of you may find these links of interest.

It deals with soda and weight gain.

I am sure you can find links to dispute the claims made in thes web sites. If you wold like to experiment with your diet, cut out the soft drinks, both regular and diet for one month. Drink water or flavored water for one month, then get on the scale and see if your weight has dropped any.

Just a suggestion.
