Welcome to the site! Please post an introduction thread.

Howdy from Georgia! Only been digging for about 6 months but finding the more you dig the more you learn. I chose a Fisher F2 because I found it to be a great basic, easy to operate and very light weight detector. It actually detects pretty deep but could be the extremely rainy weather here. Someday I may update to a Garrett but for now I'm good to go. Not trying to get rich but passionate about being outdoors, the hunt and adventure of metal detecting. With each old relic discovered, I wonder about the people that lived there long ago and how that piece was used or lost. Heck, I still get excited about the stinkn lincns found, maybe because I have yet to unearth a wheatie or just found too much trash? Appreciate this forum and all the advice to be gleaned here. Happy Digg'n!

Hello TreasureNet!!!

I lost my wedding ring. Had a local club here in Austin find it for me! Thanks Jim!!! I had already had a detector but mine isn't underwater protected. So i called in a local club and Jim showed up with his underwater detector. It did the job about 30 min. later only because i insisted on checking the place that i dropped it. Jim's exp. had him downstream. Where i eventually popped up with ring in hand!!! I have renewed my MD energy and ready for the hunt.. I have an acre of land to search and so far late 1800 nails are popping up so im hoping to post some coin soon wish me luck. Oh an i am in Austin, Texas. If anyone has advice on where to hunt.

Hello TNet members. Although I have recently "officially" joined TNet I have been tracking the posts the past several months. Very informative and educational so I am thankful for the wisdom TNet members have openly shared.

Hello everyone. I'm originally from florida, currently in vietnam for a few years. In my free time i like exploring the mekong delta by river, hiking, motorcycle. I found an old V.C camp last year near Vinh Long. In my profile pic that's me going down into the opening of a bunker.
I really like all the pics you guys have posted. Great stuff !

Hello all fellow Treasure Net users, My name is Taylor and I'm a college student in North Carolina. What got me interested in beginning metal detecting was actually investments. I started playing with stocks at 17 and then a buddy of mine offered for me to buy physical silver bullion from him and I thought why not... After buying a couple American Silver Eagles I began becoming interested in physically being able to hold and appreciate the beauty of metals and their values both financially and historically. Therefore, I have been researching Treasure Net for most of my education for my entrance into this vastly exciting hobby. After much much much research, I am happy to announce my purchase of a Fisher F2 detector which I will unbox after it is shipped to me on Saturday! I am excited guys!!!! I am going on family vacation just next week to Myrtle Beach and I'm taking the F2 down with me for dry sand searching.

Hello All,
I am new to metal detecting and I am a big history buff. I live near Sebastian and the Treasure coast and always wanted to be a pirate. I have the gold bug and soak up info like a sponge.

Hello to all, I have been lurking here for a while and finaly decided to register. Tnet and the people on it seem like a great community.
I am orig. from the Midwest US. but now in the lower Rio Grande Valley (way south Texas, sometimes called north Mexico). South Padre has been
great and am going to begin detecting there as soon as I get a sure answer as to where the "national park" ends to the south.
Will post some older finds (nothing at all to brag about) at a later date. THANK YOU to those that make this site work.:icon_thumleft:

Hello to all! My name is Sara from Bedford County, PA. My husband John and I like to metal detect (although I am more of the information finder and my husband is more of the metal detector) We both have our own detectors and are always looking for new places to go! We are willing to travel some through PA and surrounding states. Would love all the information of places to go that we can get! This site looks very informative! Nice to meet you all!

Hi there!! My username is 1emeraldlady aka Dawn-Marie :). I moved from NJ to the Treasure Coast in Florida back in 2006. I am an avid beachcomber and have collections of shark teeth, horse/camel teeth, seaglass, rocks and anything else that catches my eye. My best find so far was on March 15, 2007 (two days before my St. Patrick's Day birthday). Long and funny story but in short, while searching for shark teeth in a shell pile I found a 69.32 uncut emerald...so much fun! It has been on display at the Mel Fisher Treasure Museum in Sebastian, Florida for several years now. I haven't found gold yet but I have found pottery and 2 tiny shards of Chinese K'ang shi porcelain. I learn more every day and love spending my days searching on the beaches here. I recently purchased my first metal detector (a Garrett Sea Hunter Mark II) but I confess, I spend most of my days just looking down....that detector gets heavy after a while...lol!! emerald2dime.webpemerald3sign.webp

Here's a newbie from Hi. Just bought a 2 month old Garrett Infinium LS. It came with other toys like both land and ocean headphones, cases etc. What's anyone think of this unit. Its supposed to be new technology.

Hello everyone i am aj from connecticut. I do coin roll hunting and coin collecting. I love to see everyones finds, and also enjoy the new information I find on here. Such a great website!

Good evening.
I too am fairly new to prospecting. I have been wanting to re visit Italian Bar, CA since I was there when in boy scouts. Not going to say what year but vividly remember the Echo satellite go overhead as our scoutmaster was telling a horror story about aliens. I think he was a little spooked that night as well.
Now to current issues. There are questions on what is "non motorized". Varied state to state and what kind of day the powers to be is having.
As I have read, here in California, motorized is a internal combustion engine or electrically driven motor. Human powered, and gravity fed is OK. Internal combustion includes both gas and diesel engines. However there is no mention to external combustion engines, IE steam boiler and steam engine. Not a back packable item. Also a windmill and non electric drive, I guess is legal, but again not back packable.

Now on the other hand, I have tested and am in second design of a bicycle powered water pump for high bankers that will deliver 1000 to 2000 GPH.
I ran the first prototype last weekend at a local treasure hunter BBQ and swap meet. There were many non believers who now believe. I will post videos soon. Also can easily change to put a generator in place of the water pump. I have been able to generate in excess of 20A at 14.2V for 20 to 30 min. I ran out of beer!
The generator is for my other hobby, ham radio.
And the bicycle is good exercise.
John

Hello from Colorado, deep in Gilpin county gold country. I mostly prospect for gold and minerals but am always open for adventure. Going out for the "Dead mans cave" treasure next week... We shall see!

Hello from Southern California! I was at a garage sale this weekend and bought an older Fisher F2 for $5.00. I figured I'd give it a shot, and if I like it I'll invest in a higher quality detector. I live by the beach, so I guess that's where I'll be searching for my fortune! Wish me luck!

Hello, I have joined in hopes of learning of more abandoned places to photograph around New England :) I was very interested in Bara Hack if anyone has any information !

Texas shouting out here. In the market to buy a good beginner to moderate metal detector, any ideas and opinions. Will spend and can justify spending about 500 on one to start... AND what are some of the best features to look for... AND are they all most water proof...
