Dad and I made a trip to our old family farm property.....I'll have to say there is lots of trash around the area...Especially NAILS. TONS of nails... The house is not in very good shape. We did manage to find a few interesting things...

My first dig was a wheatie, 1956. It's the first wheat penny I have ever dug. I also found some really pretty glass shards which are probably some of my great grandma's old plates/bowls/cups. Lots of old pull tabs which were probably from great grandpa's beer cans. A .22 magnum brass shell and a what is it(??)...And I saved the best for last: My very first skeleton key !

Thanks for looking !

Looks you had a great time. Thanks for sharing!

Great Stuff!
Enjoy the time with your dad

Cool Skeleton KEY!
Tell your Dad to P.M. me please. I need a lesson how he got you so involved with metal detecting. :D I can only hope my little Sammie is my future digging Buddie. :)

Awww ! You are so sweet. Unfortunately daddy is not computer savvy, so he would be clueless as to how to navigate all of this... LOL But he does get on here and look at the Today's Finds !

Making memories with Dad, 'priceless', always keep the (Beautiful smile).

Glad you got to go, new places are always fun to find stuff in!

Congrats on your first Wheatie! The old key is very cool as well.

Nice Ole Iron Skeleton Key. Y'all wouldn't be near the Hill Country would ya? My parents lived in Boerne for quite awhile

Boerne is nearly 5 hours from me... I wish I lived closer to the Hill Country... It's my favorite part of Texas.

Thanks for the comment :D

Nice finds, but I wonder if I would have gotten 30 replies for finding a wheat penny and broken key... ::) ::) ::) ;D

Keep hunting Girl!

Haha ya'll are silly ! Thanks again guys :)

I never could get my 2 girls interested in MD, to much history, not enough excitment. We had our other activities that took all our time and still today they are my best buddies.
As to your "what is it?" I think it is a part to a handle, something that had a crank and this piece was 90 degree and bolted/riveted to the side. Could have spinned as you moved the crank or handle to make it easier to use. Check if the stud has threads or goes all the way through the larger section. I find alot of these type things at farm sites.
Keep it up and good luck!!!
