Hello All, Went detecting with Chris, Ross, Wayne a little later was joined by Bob, Bill and Mike. I am not a big fan of coins. You know old coins and the like. Today while hunting I found something I wasn't really sure about so I put in my pocket instead of the pouch. I saw all the other folks talking to one of the maintenance people so I thought I should find out what was going on. When I got there it was a false alarm but, I took the time to ask Chris what the heck I found. After looking for about 10 seconds he looked at me and asked "have I told you how much I hate you today?" I said no why? What the H is it. He said it is a Panda Gold coin. Then Ross pulled his loop out and said "yep there it is AU .9999." iT IS Dated 1983. As a precaution I gave it an acid test and with 22k acid the lines are still there.

When we went to our cars I ask Ross, what is the big deal about coins especially this one. He said gold rings can be found every month but finding a gold coin is the coup de gras of metal detecting. So on that note HAPPY DANCE , HAPPY DANCE, HAPPY DANCE. HH All GFP (Gold Fever Pete)

Great looking find.

Ummmm, if I may be so bold, why? :icon_scratch:

Three part reason.
1. On the internet: Pics, or it didn't happen.
2. I'm a visual guy and like seeing peoples finds. I skip posts about finds without pics.
3. Cool finds like this are more likely to go banner with a good picture.

I was so envious I threw up my spleen. Here is a pic for those who need pics...

Okydokey, you've done a fine job explaining.

But, just a couple questions if I may.

How do you skip posts that don't have pics? And what if a poster has no desire to post pictures of their finds, for whatever personal reason?
For me, I'm a visual guy too. I love looking at pictures of finds also. Keeps my own fires burning. But, I just figure that the poster would've posted a picture if they wanted. I suffered enough peer pressure growing up, don't need anymore and so I try to treat as I would like to be treated.

Maybe, the great and all powerful "BANNER just isn't as important to some. After all, it's not like a banner stays up there forever.

Anyhoo, thanks for taking a moment to clarify my confusion.
