What irks me?

Yeah it has happened twice. I don't understand parents that will just let their children walk over to a stranger in a park with a detector and digging tool and not watch really closely. I would never let my kids do anything like that. Maybe I am just overprotective.

Understand about the kids - we've gotten lots of them, too.

But never had one pick up the detectors or do anything to them. I think I would be tempted to swing it at their butts - but, we don't discipline kids anymore, and I guess parents (some parents) may think the "metal detectorist" is harmless and a good temporary babysitter.

I had about 10 kids (about 6 or 7 years old) following me around and getting in my way. I didn't mind too much. One of them took a pull tab I'd found and kept putting it in my path...by the third time I'd found it I busted him...kinda funny.

Another time a whole classrom of 5 year olds was all around me and one little girl started throwing dirt on my detector. That lasted about half a second.

Every time I find something the person I am hunting with has to find something just a little better than my best find. That irks me!

too with rude people, I have to work at keeping the boogeyman under control.

What irks me is finally getting a bit more time to go detecting and the body starts to give out. 1st, the eyesight then the limbs.

I keep a less expensive detector for friends - but not to borrow - only if they are going with me.

Scratching a good find that irks me

Dam& zinc pennies that rot away to nothing irks me, I had to throw away 200 of the suckers I found in 07 because they were in such bad shape
