found it this morning at an 1880's homestead site. It has attachment points at the center of the back and at its base under the feet. Its a half cast brass or bronze I think. Must be a part of something bigger but what. Any suggestions on country of origin of the dress? Persian, dutch? that might get me started. It has some nice details in the dress and hair.

Big enough for it to be an andiron?

Very possible about 6 inches long. I had to look up andiron but a decorative fireplace piece would be possible. This is pretty detailed, more than the photo indicates. Thanks for the reply, I was thinking something along this line....

Happy New Year, Tugger,

Welcome to the TNet. Thanks for showing us the sideways view of your find. Perhaps if you reoriented her, ID would be facilitated...

Her costume says 19th Century West Asia to me.

The curled up pointy shoes make me think so too. I think the family was german or "low dutch" who may have been into west asia in the 1880s?

The attachment point at the center of the back appears to be threaded.
