The mirror image shape on both sides is interesting to me but i have no clue what it really is. I would normally guess it to be natural but the shape and hole is intriguing.

Looks odd but to me it looks completly natural.

i think just a unique looking natural rock maybe polished from being in some kind of moving water

You guys may be correct. It looks like being in running water would have polished the dimple out of the stone. I see many stones around here that were partially drilled for hafting. The opposing side will have a "7" shaped incisions, also for hafting, I suppose. I'll post some tonight for you to see. It may only be indigenous to my region. I'm not sure. The hole here reminds me of what I see so often.

You think it could be unfinished . The way it fits in my hand an the placement of where the hole is started puts me in mind of a pipe.just a guess?? It is some type of hard stone, pretty heavy for size.

My opinion is it 's likely just a strange natural rock. I would have picked it up also though.

if it were a pestle I would expect the wear on the bottom...the patina....to be different than the rest of the rock. also, kinda small to be a pestle.

Im waiting to see your post for examples.

I think that you've got a rock with a belly button on it. :tongue3:
