Found this today while doing a dig out for a new project that I'm doing does anyone know what it is. Also, if it's of any worth how do I know?

Possibly a native American Indian spear tip? Value, I don't know but it is cool!

Holy Carp, Welcome to the forum and what a way to make an entrance! You have what appears to be an intact (?) knapped knife blade, a real stunner, congratulations. Post it also on the Native American relics thread of Treasurenet to get the opinions of our experts. They will want to know in what state you found it in to help associate it with a certain time frame. Sub 8-)

I'm not sure how to do that is there someone I need to contact? How does one verify what it is? Do I take it somewhere? Lol sorry never found anything like it or tried even

It is a really nice knife, I will move thread to artifact forum for more opinions by long time collectors.

January 20, 2017 A New Beginning!

Nice Find! Looks to be a Sedalia point/spearhead/knife if found in the Midwest. Likely made from Burlington chert. Middle to late Archaic about 4,000 years old. Find some more and welcome to the forum!

Where was it found? Doesn't look like a Sedalia to me.

(Edit) I tend to agree with the others on the Wadlow. If you found another piece in that same spot then there is a Cache there. You need to go back and probe that area and find them. Could be just a few more or could be lots more. Be worth checking out.

nice one,go back and look for more,i think it should have a base, maybe broke while digging.or it just could be one they worked down to stash for when they came back to hunt the area.thanks for sharing

looks like a big ole knife the base appears to be broken or damaged but still a very nice peice the white color really stands out

I found this in missouri lake saint Louis to be exact also found another half size one within feet of it. Another person has called it a wadlow?

I'll have to go with broken knife, but still a beauty, if I had found it , it would be priceless.

Welcome to the forum! Wow! That is a FANTASTIC find!

If someone had a gun to my head and I had to age it, I'd guess it was made between 6000-5000 B.C. It reminds me of the Florida point called the Hamilton that had a broken off base and the user resharpened into a triangular knife blade. It's not a Sedalia.

I am thinking it could be a Wadlow Blade. Looks like the base is missing, or damaged.

Value (money wise) isn't very much, but as a personal find it would usually hold greater sentimental value.

Nice newbie find for sure. Its not going to be worth a lot of $ maybe a little enough for a nice lunch or lenner :). But as a collectors point of view it would be priceless. Hang onto it you never know you might find a few more and want to frame them and tell the story to your kids when you are old enough to get married. Congrats on a cool find, rock

Welcome Mawalsh. If you guys found those two that close together you might want to look that spot over real good, there may be more.
