hi
I am new to this site, been an avid reader, and enjoy your posts a great deal, i don't have a md yet but am looking to purchase one in the spring, probably gonna be a ace 250 or xterra50 or 70
anyhoo to the question

i found a canadian penny with some kind of a weird error, can somebody tell me what kind of an error is this, cuz i have never seen one like this (and i have been searching) my only option now is to ask all the experts here. :),

the error is on both sides, and the date is 19?? not in the best shape, found it in change. the circles are not scratches they seem to be more like waves that penetrate the whole penny.

thanks for all the help

I'd say it happened after it left the mint - therefore not an error. It is a bit tough to tell from the photos just what it is, but it looks to me like it got squeezed in a clamp or a vise and the copper was displaced thataway.

I would also say it is post mint damage. It could have possibly been caught in a dryer or other machine that spins the coin. Cool looking swirl pattern though.

i still don't think this is a post mint error, but if everybody thinks it is, then i wil take it with a grain of salt :'(

if it were an error though, could it be some kind of a BROCKAGE? or what??

thanks

It doesn't look like any kind of mint error to be honest with you. Post mint for sure.

looks to me like someone used it in a fuse box (before breakers). OR I HAVE WORKED in factories over 30 years and seen coins used for shims and spacers. go figure. hh goldie ps i live in mich A lot of factories .
