What old style would you like to see brought back?

I am only 39 so I guess I am not all that old but what I miss the most is the safety for the kids to be out. I have 2 daughters, 12 and 13 years old, I still live in the same small town I grew up in becauce it is a great place to raise kids. It is so different here now then it was 25 years ago when I was thier age. You could stay out and not be worried about being safe. Everybodies parents looked out for all the kids, we couldn't get away with nuthin! Now I even have to worry about their friends parents and what might happen. Other kids their age are just as bad. We could walk uptown to the movie theatre, go to the arcade after the show and hang out 'til midnight and walk home alone and no one would even think of bothering a kid. Now there are people out there for no other reason then just to harass and cause others problems.

I guess what I would really like to see come back is the respect people used to have for other people and for their property. I really hate it that my girls can't enjoy the freedoms of being a kid like I was able to.

Alot of neighborhoods in the city's were like that also, everyone knew everyone and looked out for eachother but the gov felt the need to bus kids into the schools and move "low income" people into the blue collar area's needless to say they died one by one as the working class fled and are nothing more then run down ghettos now. Now we have one of the guys responsible for this about to run the whole show. God help us all. ;D

I'd like to see the hand-painting with oil colors to color black and white photos resurrected in some way. Don't get me wrong, I like modern color photos also but there is also a nostalgic quality to the old style also. My mother used to color photos years ago and I remember sitting by her and watching her bring the pictures to life with little tubes of oil paints and Q-tips. This is a picture of her that she colored herself.

TRAINS, TRAINS, MORE TRAINS. Most of my ancestors were "IRON COWBOYS".
It's in my blood.
