This is a photo of the very first artifact that I found, it is what put the bug in me and I don't know what you would call it drill/scraper:dontknow:. All I know is it fired me up and I have not stopped yet, that was 35 yrs ago. The point is my wife's first find and believe me it fired her up big time. Her find was longer than anything that I had found at the time:BangHead:I had to eat crow for awhile. first artifact 002.webpfirst artifact 003.webpfirst artifact 004.webpfirst artifact 005.webpIf you have it post it or tell about it. Mine was while I was fishing. I thought it was a cool looking rock and kept it. I showed it to somebody and he said it was a nice scraper. I think I gave it to my kid and now its well you know.......lost forever.

I love threads like this.
My first artifact was a pottery chard... no clue where that is...but I have my first point. I found it at the same spot that same day.

My first find is a Gary (common point for texas) made of sugar quartz. Yep still have it. I will try to dig up a pic... but yeah I go "rock fever" after that. Now I find my self looking at the ground most of the time. Or pulling off the road to look at fresh dirt work. Yeah I got a bad case of the "rock fever" and theres no cure. Lol

15 years...and still counting

My first artifact 8 years ago was the broken one in this picture it was also my first heartbreaker

By the way I still have it and ever artifact I have are all ones I've found myself I have never bought or sold a single piece lol!!!

Painterx7, I also never buy or sell. Its the only way to be positive that everything you have is authentic. I don't think I could part with my finds. I work way too hard to trade them for money. Im excited to give them to my kids someday.

Me too I hope they don't sell them !!!

Found this first while metal detecting a field in the spring of 2011.
Now I artifact hunt more than I MD.

My first artifact came from a Kentucky tobacco field, in a bottom, next to a creek. I don't know where it went. I think someone stole it years ago in my rebellious youth.

Found this when I was a very small boy probably four years old out with my father. It sat in a jar for many years. It got broke somehow and this is all I have left. I wrapped it and made necklace out of it so I would never lose it again
