What's For Dinner?

All this talk about fruit and nuts got me hungry! What's on your plate for dinner? I'm eating a typical college student dinner; ramen noodles and peanut butter crackers. LOL. Think it goes like this, "oatmeal, cornmeal, skip a meal".

Guess Nick & I are thinking alike tonight... I ordered some Hungry Howies pizza for the fam.
Thus far, I've yet to find any pizza that has compared to theirs... oh buddy!!

Vegemite is a disgusting looking black tar-like substance much prized by some as a breakfast
repast, spread on toast. It is a yeast extract invented in Australia. New Zealand has a slightly
more palatable version called Marmite. Can't stand either

I was always under the impression that dinner=supper. Lunch is the noon repast. Then you have brunch, breakfast, snacks and munchies! I've heard dinner used here in the south for lunch. Regional lexicon, I suppose.

Nick, anyone who would eat a lamb would eat a goat! I have tried both and can't go either one. Funny though, they taste a lot like venison to me and I like venison.
We had a house full of out of town company for my niece's baby shower over the week end. Kay baked a big ham for supper, ( sorry all my Jewish brothers). I fixed potato salad and baked beans. Kay baked a strawberry cake and we had iced tea and soft drinks to go with it. Also had a couple of brewskis for those who imbibe. No one left hungry I can guarantee you that. Very little left over as usual when this bunch gets together. I also made a large pot of homemade beef and vegetable soup for lunch and it is all gone. Vegetable and beef stew and potato salad are my specialties although I can cook just about anything that is down south home style cooking. I don't do fancy victuals however. Sounds like everyone is eating well except perhaps our college students. Been there and done that too. Monty

the 4 daily meals -- from when folks worked sun up to sundown *

#1 -- breakfast -- "break the fast" eaten first thing upon getting up -to get going in the morning --normally a goodly sized meal for a farm hand -- smaller meal if you if gentry type (say 6 am)

#2 lunch --- say about noon --- a smallish light meal often a sandwich or bit of friut ,cheese, bread to keep one going

#3 dinner --the end of the work day meal --- one of the biggest meals of the day normally --* taken at say 5 pm for laborers -- or small snack if having "supper" as well for gentry types

#4 supper -- a later type of dinner by gentry esp if guest were "coming over" it might be large--- or a smallish late night snack by laborers -- say 8 to 9 pm.


lets see dinner was --6 buffalo wings -- a medium pizza with --italian sauasge / pepperoni and anchovy's , green pepper, onions, mushrooms and of course cheese --- deserrt was key lime pie -- the drink was lots of sweet tea
