have been using groundhog for many years and very dedicated,even though vintage. Since Ive joined this forum have decided to update.choices are garrett gold scorpion or fisher 1265x, still not up to date, but my choices. would appreciate any heads-up from any you seasoned detectorists on which one. Thank you

Both of these were very capable in their day but now models that do it better with lighter materials are on hand. One thing the older models have over the newer is price but you get a little less performance.

Of the two, I'd probably have to back the Garrett Gold Scorpion. I have seen a lot of good feedback on that unit, but haven't heard much about the 1265-X.

I've also used the Scorpion myself and thought it was a fine machine. Make sure you get the 5x10 coil if you decide to get it.
