Whites Spectrum XLT-After Market Coil Question

Hi folks.
I have a Spectrum XLT that is over 10 years old & has served me well. I am however looking at buying another coil. One that gives me more depth etc.
The one currently on the MD is the original. Would like to hear from other XLT owners/users on what are some good coil options.

Your best bet is to replace it with a Whites coil designed for it.

Sandman is right. Very rarely are any of the after-market coils better than the manufacturers own coils. Sometimes they are equal (like coil-tek for Minelab), but not "better". Think of it: if there was a "better mousetrap" (superior electronics, windings, etc...) that could be made for a machine, don't you think the manufacturer would be all over themselves to buy up the technology and put it on their stock units?

Be careful of ads for "more depth", as they are sometimes simply a larger coil if you look closely at the ads. You can simply buy the manufacturer's own larger coils and get more depth too (with the inherent drawbacks of larger coils).

I have a Jimmy Sierra 12" Hot Shot coil on my XLT, works great, lightweight and gave me a little more depth. HH, Mike

well you failed to mention exactly what coil is on the machine is the standard 9.5

i am assuming its a rainbow and what kind of depth are you getting now?
