Why do people ask ridiculous questions?

Please Note ! there are no ridiculous Questions ONLY ridiculous & RUDE Answers

which could get members in trouble.

as for the OP's question

Does this person actually expect a complete stranger in East Nowhere to reveal his secret locations?

to this ?

"Going to visit family in East Nowhere, U.S.A. I'm bringing my trusty Acme Super Duper Model X metal detector with me to do some treasure hunting. Anybody in East Nowhere know any good places to hunt?"

Absolutely! If i know good places to hunt there, I'd give them the info.
& maybe even join. nobody can find everything & I am not talking
Private spots, I'm sure they are not talking private sites either.

I don't see a request for "Secret Locations" & even if they did,
hey perhaps when some people retire & have nobody to pass theirs on to,
They may not be so greedy as to refuse to share private leads :unhappysmiley:

I am a newbie to detecting. I got my first detector in April. I then upgraded to a better machine in May. I probably spent as much time watching detecting videos and reading these forums. The knowledge I have gained from them has saved me a lot of time and aggravation. If the members here were not so generous, I would probably given up detecting. But the encouragement has helped and has made me want to learn all I can about this hobby. I see myself someday trying to help others in this hobby. Maybe joining a detector club. Taking new guys to spots I hunt. I think it is paying forward. There are people here I would love to meet. Not because I want to hunt their best spots. Because I could learn so much from their experience to be a better detectorist and maybe make a new friend.

Sorry ...TH … You know i get carried away at times .. But i am working on it ...
Don't feel bad Keppy, I thought it was a real post too at first...took me a bit to realize it was an example.

Boatload's just afraid someone might find that elusive 1913 liberty head nickel in one of his spots. And believe me it is a legitimate question for him.

No apology needed keppy, it was a friendly reminder TO ALL...

hey if yasmine bleeth asks me I'll take her to my favorite spots anytime!!

Hell I will not only tell you where to hunt I will get you a treasure map. I found a bunch of maps at pirate world in Miami when I was young. Gold foe everyone. Yarrrrrrr

yeah people will ask stupid questions. Some are just naive and have no idea how that sounds to a vet. hunter. But someone may be moving out of state or lost their health or just cannot MD anymore, and may be willing to give up some good locations. I once paid a guy $50 to show me two locations. He did and it payed off 100%. But your point is very true. I suppose Neebees just don't know this yet. i like the way some get all huffy with you as if that will get them anywhere. *L*

I have told several people on this site where we used to hunt. All were places that contained finds. I told individuals about separate spots with the hopes that they might pass them on some day too. They were native american artifact sites, gold panning sites, pura plata sites, old spanish relic sites and even spanish coin sites down on the Texas coast. Secret spots? Special spots? Just don't believe in not sharing. Only told one person about each location. Their's to share or not share now. It was always just a hobby to me, not a way to make a living. Did try prospecting about 40 years ago. Thought I was gonna die. Easier to work for a living. As Red James Cash will tell you, I'm just an "old geezer" now and happy to have helped others...

This actually may not be true anymore. Recent findings have determined that light travels slower then was thought. A super nova that happened in 1972(?) had its light show up 4 hours late. :)

Back in '72 I had a really super Nova. It had a 350, two four bangers, and it never ever showed up late!...Oh, wait....you're not talkin' cars? Darn, maybe this is why I can never find a hunting partner...

Hell I wouldn't know WHAT TO DO WITH A GOOD "SECRET SPOT"!!!! But... if you have a hankerin' to find some old rusty iron horseshoes I am now a certified professional guide. All of my clients are so HAPPY. And YES I do share this honey hole.

When asked about some sites that I thought might be sweet, I've answered with what I knew. But, mostly because I no longer live close to those places! I had a couple of places in Texas that I wanted to hunt; but never got around to one them. One was an old school where my wife attended 6th grade. There was only the 4 walls standing when I last saw it. Another was the former site of an above ground swimming pool from back somewhere in the 30s, 40s, or possibly 50s. It was only a overgrown lot the last time I saw it. I got a chance to hunt there once. The hunt only lasted a few minutes because of the weather; severe thunderstorm. I found several wheat cents, a war nickel, and a silver dime. I've told several about those 2 places. If I ever get back to Texas, and healthy enough, I'd like to go to those 2 places.

Unfortunately it never fails my partner and I find a spot and next time we go someone has trashed the site. I suspect he knows we hunt on the weekends and he just looks for us then visits later. Maybe he hunts at night as he does a poor job with his holes. When you hunt with a buddy we strive to keep the area looking untouched so we can go back. I also need to add the guy does not have permission to hunt these spots. Its getting old and we may just start hunting out of town. if you would show up where I am hunting, I will tell you what I found and where. There is just too much in the ground to be a ass. Its a fun hobby, play nice. Oh, if your the guy following me around, fill your damn holes.

I'm new here but sometimes people ask stupid questions to get stupid people bent out of shape or make an arse of there self. lol just saying.

I always wonder when people ask if a given area might be worth hunting, especially when the painfully obvious (duh) response is hunt it and see, you're the one in the area.
