It fell out of fashion to the general consumer of its day, as the new way is what most crave in their life time given. Now some folks look at it and see what you see in it and admire the beauty of it and the times it came from. Stuff like that to me is the closest thing I can come in contact with those days of old. The new period pieces of reproductions of items like the old stuff have not the spirit given to it from the past... Making it again won't work and it will not be the same. That's what to me makes it a treasure...Just ain't no time machines out there. Sure wish there was at times I do.

well said look at the time that must of went into this and has lasted over 150 yrs now your lucky if it lasts a week

What tamrock said...generally fell out of fashion...PLUS...to manufacture that set, today, piece by piece..and with the hand-made fashion required to reproduce this type of quality..would cost a TON of money..not that some people would not want to buy it..it is just that-only a select few could afford and/or appreciate it's true value. thanks for sharing..great piece. ddf
